Since african americans had the priesthood during Joseph Smith's time, we will need to find a different source than your statement. One must search for the problem of 'Black Pete' and what he did to see the problems. It all begins with this issue.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world. Joseph Smith We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…” Joseph Smith

Yes, because that always works out...

So is that a yes or a no?

Matthew 8
5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.
Matthew 15 22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
In fact, the Bible mainly documents God's relationship to the jews, his chosen people. Is that racist?
Now Paul took the gospel to the gentiles. And some of the apostles were against this.
And all LDS apostles were against black men (of "African descent") being ordained to the priesthood, and the pre-1978 apologetic for Elijah Abel's case was that when it was found he had black ancestry, his name was removed from the priesthood rolls.
But basically, Jesus was not traveling the world giving his message to the inhabitants of the earth.
Despite Joseph Smith's fanfic in 3 Nephi to the contrary.
They did deny a certain group the priesthood but then again, they also denied women the priesthood. Should they offer an apology to women too?
Yes.
Do you believe that women have more equality than men in some western societies? It seems so, especially when it comes to child custody.
It may seem that way to those who do not know what they are talking about, but who instead rely on anecdote and stereotype.

I think that this issue of the petition is deeper in your psyche than you wish to admit.
Equal access to positions of leadership specifically.
Why me, Was Mary the Apostle to the Apostles? Did women in the very early church hold positions of leadership and responsibility? Were women in the Old Testament Prophets?
I see the policy of withholding the priesthood from women as just that, a policy which aligns itself with cultural norms and practices.

Let me try this again: Jesus was not actively preaching to the Romans and to the barbarians nor to any other group outside his main ministry: the jews. Of course, if asked for help, he helped. But it was not part of his teaching plan. He did not lecture the Romans, not even Pilate. And certainly, when facing death on the cross he could have made a major impact by attempting to convert Pilate. But he remained silent but never remained silent when it came to the Jewish leaders.
Was he racist?

No. Why Me.... John 10:16
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
What part of that saying of Jesus indicates in any way that he is racist?
When the early apostles went out to spread the word, where did they go Why me? Is there any evidence that they avoided the negro? I can answer that for you. No.
The linking up of the curse of cain to the negro race is and was a man made doctrine based in 19th century fundamentalist, literalist and white supremacist thinking.
What I absolutely object to is the newsroom's attempts to cover a lie by continuing to be disingenuous and misleading about its past. What happened to the stages of repentance which involves recognition and restitution. Does it involve everyone but the church as an organisation itself.
I am disappointed that a church which held me, and rightfully so, to such high standards of conduct, is not conducting itself honestly in this particular matter.

This was, like, a black dude, who like many Gentiles admired Jewish monotheism (The 'God-fearers' referred to elsewhere in Acts and the Epistles).
Acts 8:26-40
New International Version (NIV) Philip and the Ethiopian 26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Go south to the road—the desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” 27 So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian[a] eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means “queen of the Ethiopians”). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28 and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet. 29 The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.”
30 Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.
31 “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
32 This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading:
“He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 33 In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.”[b]
34 The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” 35 Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.
36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” [37] [c] 38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. 39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing. 40 Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea.
