The placebo effect of beer and prayer

Post by _zeezrom »

For the last few days, I have been teaching a class. It has been very demanding. I came home yesterday exhausted. My face hurt from whatever pressures I was under during the 8 hour class. I had dishes, homework with the kids, and bedtime stories ahead of me.

That's when I pulled out a bottle of Pyramid apricot ale. I drank it while starting the dishes. The pain my face went away and I was able to finish the night.

I think the beer helped a little but most of the help came from a placebo effect. It's kind of like when I used to pray for help to get through the hard times.

Oh, and to all those who teach full-time- I admire you.
Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)
