To those that read their endless false witness and strengthen their testimony due to the false witness they present, then applaud them, and take another sip. Joseph Smith was a false prophet of God and is not in any way shape or form Christian. If one wants to catch a rocket ride to Joseph Smith's Kolob dressed in white, I have no issue with that, but I do have an issue with those that distort the truth to reflect what they want to be true under the guise it's Christian, and know is not true. So Tobin... you're an ass in my opinion and without conviction. Bring it cowboy... applaud Liz for the continued assertion that Mormonism reflects Christian theology. Applaud harmony for continuing to assert she actually believes in the truth claims of Joseph Smith that degrades women as sex slaves to white men. But in the end, if Mormonism was a cake and there was a rabbit turd placed in the center, you can only eat the outside of it for so long before reaching the center. You don't seem big into facts nor arguing your point as evidenced by this post. It seems the only thing you do is attach labels to things and call people names. You might want to reconsider that approach.

Perhaps active Mormons who like to debate tend to be very literal-minded. I think there are a lot of active Mormons like my wife, who don't particularly care about the fine points of LDS doctrine. They might make up a majority, but I'm not aware that anybody's done any studies on it, so I just don't know.

And then there's the small minority like me, who like to deba-- eh, discuss the issues, but isn't very literal minded at all.

Thews, I happen to believe someone is in control of the universe, is actively involved in preserving some good things into the eternities, and will in fact preserve some good things into the eternities. I call that someone God. Perhaps we disagree with regards to that someone's attributes, but I really don't see how you can call my belief in the existence of such a being a farce.

Tell me, please, for someone like me who believes in such a deity, what's the conscientious alternative to believing what the LDS Church says about the being who's in control of the universe?

You said the LDS Church "degrades women as objects"? How do you figure? It degrades "people of color as lesser humans"? I think that's a bit of an exaggeration, but if you're talking about the theories that blacks were less valiant in the pre-existence then I need to confess that I got caught up in that when I was a teenager myself, but it's been over three decades since the LDS Church has even mentioned ideas like that, and it's recently come out and said completely to the contrary.

The LDS Church isn't Christian? Once again, how do you figure? Who gets to decide who is Christian and who isn't?
