Bot, you are as ethically challenged as your Church. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Bob,
What do you make of FAIR's dealings with Rodney Meldrum? Or how about their critique of Big Love? Or what about their alleged posting of libelous things about Bob McCue? Or the fact that Allen Wyatt is one of their key members? Or the fact that they run the "Mormon Defense League" (or whatever it's called these days)?
The truth is that, nowadays, there probably is nothing that actually constitutes actual, official "Church doctrine," so the emphasis in my sentence should be placed on the word "boldly." Obviously, the Brethren aren't going to step forward to clarify anything, beyond saying, "We don't know," which means that the loudest and most vociferous Mopologists will be the ones doing the defining. Now that FARMS has been wiped off the map, FAIR is really the only game in town.
How long will they last, I wonder?

Yahoo Bot wrote: I see FAIR as a group of dedicated individuals who would likely pass for nerds college, some are well-read and others not, who have their particular opinions. But, I can see what they have done with the LGT theory, which I vehemently oppose, and they have done very well to state sources for the contrary view which I hold.
It's kind of an existentialist experience to see Yahoo Bot, in a single paragraph, compare people to college nerds while noting the infighting between faithful Mormons about the hypothetical location of 2,600 years (or so) of Jaredite and Nephite civilizations.
I'm sure Yahoo Bot wants this disagreement to be seen as more serious and intellectual than an argument about who would win a fistfight between Captain Kirk and Captain Picard. However, his desire to draw such a distinction doesn't mean that his vehement opposition to various fantasies about Book of Mormon locations actually should be taken any more seriously.

Pretty courageous from an anonymous source. You'e a coward.
What is my biggest ethical offense, I'm curious? (What standard of ethics and what violation?)

Hmm, my comments about "boldly" changing church doctrine has nothing to do with Meldrum and the others. Big deal. They're entitled to their opinions. McCue has made himself a public figure and thus is open to attack. I would try and stick to the issues, myself, when dealing with a real person but personal attacks are the way things are done on both sides. You're not in a good position, personally to the extent a anonymous poster can be personal, to be complaining about FAIR's tone, with the multi-year personal diatribe against poor Dr. Peterson.

That isn't very coherent, even after reading it three times.
But I agree that fighting over the geographical location of the Book of Mormon is like pinheads dancing on the nail of a point.

Oh, don't get me wrong, Bob: I'm not complaining about FAIR's tone, per se. I was merely pointing out that, doctrinally speaking, they are the only game in town. I was originally responding to lulu, remember? I get that you resent what FAIR is doing, though, and for that I say: Good for you.

Not quite.
I discriminate among my sources and I don't agree with everything I read from them or MI/FARMS, but in my opinion they are the best for what they do. They fill a role and I admire their effort. I wouldn't want to attempt it.

You admire the fact that they engage in their activities--which includes attacking named people and wholesale restructuring of LDS doctrine--anonymously? (The same goes for "Mormon Voices.") Well, that sure is interesting.

I was trying to make it kind of like the Doctrine and Covenants. Thanks for letting me know that I succeded.

More like arguing about who would win a fistfight between Kirk and Picard.
