Bishop Kloosterman Released

Post by _Madison54 »

He announced his release on Facebook.

I don't know how long he has served, but it appears that at least some of the members of his ward are surprised he was released "early" and are upset about it.

If you don't remember who he is, here is a link to the thread discussing him:

He is heavily involved now with John Dehlin and the LGBTQ/SSA Mormon cause. I say "more power to him" and "good for him for having so much courage and integrity!".

He is on the cover of the pamphlet for the upcoming Mormon Stories conference in Washington D.C. (“Circling the Wagons”, a conference for LGBTQ/SSA Mormons). Here is a link to it:

Of course, it might just be that it was his time to be released, but one has to wonder.

I love it! He was one of the poster children for the NOMish, Sunstoner, liberal, squishy, Dehlin-Brooks Mormons who think the church is making "progress" and becoming more "tolerant" of "diverse" viewpoints. It isn't, of course. The church is as fascistic, authoritarian, dogmatic, and backward as it has ever been. And this is more evidence of that fact.

No good deed goes unpunished where Mormon God is concerned.

Maybe Kloosterman, Jensen and Bott can catch a beer together and compare notes...

I agree with this. I have been annoyed with those who are half in and half out at times. I have also been annoyed by those who are so naïve they actually believe they can make a difference and change things by staying "in". I have never bought into that. However, I do know that many who no longer believe in the church still attend for a spouse or other loved ones and I understand why they would.

I feel this Bishop's release is his ward's (and the church's) loss and his family's gain (to have him home with them again). Very sad that the church shuns those who are really some of their very best.

I agree with this and have no problem with NOMs who are forced deep undercover for family or employment or social reasons, etc. I just don't like the ones who have a Pollyannish attitude toward the church and see "progress" where there really is none.

I'm glad they didn't choose September 11 (MMM anniversary) for their Circling the Wagons conference.

Anyone have any idea how long Kloosterman has served?

I believe he said 4 and half years.
It is my province to teach to the Church what the doctrine is. It is your province to echo what I say or to remain silent.
