So yesterday the primary was apparently doing its semi-annual try-and-get-kids-excited-for-general-conference routine. My 7 year old son came home quited excited about one thing in particular they had told him about, games for general conference. It went down something like this after church:
My Son: Mom, they have these neat general conference games to play and all you have to do is go to LDS.org! Can I go there right now?
Me: (confused and concerned) Son, are you expecting to play games like on Club Penguin and lego.com, you know video games?
My Son: Yeah!
Me: Oh.
My Wife: Sorry honey, they are not like those games. You print them out on paper and play them while watching conference.
My Son: Oh, nevermind (heads off to play Wii).
I felt really bad for the kid, it wasn't his fault. So, Primary Presidencies, please be more clear in the future. When you put "games" and "online" in the same sentence, today's kids are expecting some Flash animation and video gaming. Maybe show them examples of the lame games they can expect so as not to get their hopes up.

Re: Primary Presidency Punked my Kid
When I was young we had to walk to conference bare foot in the snow. Kids today have it easy.
On a serious note it seems strange that they are encouraging kids to find something to entertain themselves with during conference. What happened to "sit still and pay attention to the speaker"?
I wonder if my parents had been more inclined to allow me to quietly entertain myself at Church meetings when I was growing up instead of insisting that I sit still and listen, would I enjoy those same meetings any more as an adult? Of course correlation had not yet killed any creativity at that point so maybe it would not have mattered.

Well, technically, there are two online Conference games for kids: see them on the right here.
They're just both incredibly lame.

A better game would be to down an Oreo cookie every time someone says "even" (as in, even Jesus Christ) or uses the words obey or obedience.

Anyhow...don't criticize. How else are we supposed to know how spiritual they are?
If I ever got to say the prayer in general conference, instead of starting with the usual, "Our dear, kind, most gracious, eternal, loving, caring Heavenly Father," I would start out: Oh....my....God. And then roll right into my prayer.

Back in the olden days children didn't really attend conference. Ok, I totes got that from The Work and the Glory series. LMAO!!! It could be true, though.

A little off topic but as a priest I attended a devotional held right before a Church basketball tournament. The last speaker, about ten minutes into his talk, to a mostly 16-18 year old male audience who were just thinking about the basketball games they were involved in later on that day, said let me finish with this thought. . . and proceeded to talk another 45 minutes. After which an adult with a much better sense of what the young men were going through, got up and gave the benediction in these words: "Father we ask they blessings on this meeting Amen." We gave him a standing ovation.

Conference did seem more adult oriented back then. It would have been uncomfortable to explain to your kids that if daddy catches mommy in bed with another man, then daddy must kill mommy.
