And the congregation erupted in laughter when he said it. So if you are a science believing Mormon, do you feel ganged up on during this talk, or do you just roll your eyes at the idiocy all around you? I love how later in that talk he quoted from King Benjamin as if he was a real person.

Did you guys really expect anything but Creationism to be taught in a religious forum? I don't care if you were listening to a Catholic, Protestant, or Mormon sermon, the Creation would be taught as truth.

I'm sure there were a good number of members who cringed when he said it. Honestly I'm kind of surprised he said it. I thought the church was on the path towards reconciling with science.

Catholics tend to reject creationism and the arguments like the one Nelson used with it. Not all do, of course, but that is predominant. Liberal protestants are the same way. I think you are confusing believing that God created the world, near universally believed by Christians, with bad creationist arguments purporting to show that.
