Also, is it different if that's your career? Lots of Mormons play professional sports on sunday, and seem to feel great about it (when they win), and these guys are typically put on pedestals as Mormon celebrities. Not only did Steve Young play on Sunday, but after he retired he had enough money and prestige that he could choose what to do with his time, and what job opportunities to accept. He is now an NFL analyst and he still works on Sunday. I'm guessing he has found a way to avoid Sunday meetings and is milking it for as long as possible.

My undergraduate college had soccer instead of football, and they played on Sundays, and it was a Catholic college. However, they did have basketball.

Soccer is more like basketball than like football, anyway. Bounce the ball off of bodies than off the floor.

In order to be successful at basketball, one must be tall. In order to be successful at soccer, one must be an athlete.
 One of our basketball players in HS was about 6-6, looked good, but

General Authorities get paid.
General Authorities work on Sundays, e.g. General Conference

Hades wrote:I think the girl realized that she enjoyed soccer on Sunday much more than church on Sunday. Her upbringing caused her to believe that Satan had entered her heart and caused her to enjoy Sunday soccer. That caused her to feel horrible guilt. What kind of person admits to herself that she likes soccer better than church?

+1

My nieces never seem to feel guilty about playing soccer on Sunday. It was an issue early on, especially for my BIL, but later I think they didn't have a problem with it. It's nice to see TBM's relaxing in some areas.
