Darrick would never have been banned if their had not been a large complaint thread about it.

I can say with a high degree of confidence this isn't true.

Well it was certainly not clear. No action was taken on him at all that anyone could see until LDST started his complain thread. If there was something going on behind the scenes it sure was not obvious. He posted here for a long, long time in a very abusive manor. Was it coincidence that has banning just happened when the complaint threads started a few weeks ago?

I was worried that a complaint thread with a threat of boycott would be the only thing that might make Shades reconsider banning him, in fact, and implied that in one of the first responses in the thread.

Darrick always came across as unbalanced and prone to ugly comments. But being unbalanced and prone to ugly comments doesn't make you ineligible to post here. The difference here was Darrick's seriously threatening and stalking like behavior. LDST started a thread about it literally a few hours before an inevitable ban was going to happen.

Forget her years of contributions!
Forget the plethora of wit she has shared as a member of this community!
Forget the enormous amount of time she has spent with us all at this place!
Forget the life experiences she has offered and lent an ear to!
Forget the fact that she has been a part of our on-line family for years!
Forget the reality that she chose to spend some of her free time with and for us!
Forget that we all have posted a thing or two that we might wished we did not.
Forget the countless times she has stood for (and indeed defended) many of us here!
Forget the many friends she has earned along her on-line journey!
Forget the benefit of the doubt she might like to be extended right about now!
Forget the fact that she can not respond to any of this!

The only thing that matters is that she has made a threat to this precious discussion board and that, my dear friends, should be the only thing we use when measuring what we stand for in this life!

Since this is common knowledge, I am just going to state this flat-out. Shades and I both had information that Darrick had threatened Dan and his family. We knew that before Darrick's very first post here. I wanted Darrick out of here. Shades used the same reasoning that EA is using and felt that Darrick should be allowed to post.

Now, Jersey Girl is being cut off from a community that she has been a part of and contributed to for as long as the board has been running because she demanded that something be done about a person who was a KNOWN threat to people in real life.

Sorry...I don't see the sense in it.

Sadly, many will never have the pleasure to see this gem shine. As entirely and completely insane as this is, a decision was made to ban her a while back.

I take it seriously that she threatened the board. I don't believe that was wise of her. However, I can forgive her for acting a little rashly given the alarming amount of sexual harassment that she'd just endured from Darrick.

I reported some of it, but unfortunately it was allowed to remain on the board. Seriously I think we can moderate comments about "Eating ****" without becoming MD&D. Especially considering they were done in the context of harassing another poster.

Oh, please... Jersey Girl is full of piss and vinegar and is as much an instigator on this board as anyone. She's got a hyperactive sense of morality and exercises it hastily, often without thinking about the consequences. I'd like to remind everyone that she did threaten to take this board down. She told me, privately, she had sent a message to DreamHost reporting this board and told me that she had issued the same to Shades.

Do you all understand that, had she been successful, you'd all be floating out in the ether, disconnected from one another?

I haven't known Jersey Girl as long as most of you, but in the short time I have known her, I get the sense she relishes conflict and likes to push buttons. And every time she acts out, well, that's just some Jersey sass on display; a neighbourhood toughie out for some fisticuffs and mayhem.

I think Jersey Girl knew perfectly well she was kicking the hornet's nest when she threatened to report the board to DreamHost. If this were my board, I probably would have booted her for a good amount of time, too. Permanently? I dunno. But a 3 month suspension would have been a minimum sentence.
