Ummm, no. The word is actually almah עלמה. It means a young girl who has reached puberty and is unmarried. Virgin is a perfectly fine translation of it.

Again WRONG!!! There is nothing miraculous about this verse if you yank the meaning out of it by doing that. Stating that Mary was young unmarried non-virgin girl just makes her a whore (and is completely outside the meaning of the word used by the way). Also, that was punishable by stoning. Clearly, the english term virgin is integral to understanding the hebrew here.

And again, I'm telling you that you are completely mistaken. Virgin is a perfectly fine translation of the word into english here since it what is meant here. The quotation from Isaiah is meaningless if you ignore that. By your limited understanding, you would translate Isaiah 7:14 as follows -"Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a young whore shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." This is the miraculous sign from God?!?

Seriously, have you read the verse at all?!? It says, "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign". What do you think a 'sign from God' is precisely? Is it some common occurance that we experience everyday? Or is it something unusual and miraculous and not something we see everyday? Clearly, a young whore having a child isn't unheard of or particularly uncommon. However, a young virgin having a child - well, that is an entirely different matter.
