That's what happens when we may have a member in the White House. Pre-emptive strike and all that.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.
Isn't it funny that this year Conference is all Jesusy, tithing doesn't get mentioned, City Creek opens and then we get, for the first time ever, a Jesusy Easter media campaign.
One doesn't believe in coincidences...
“We look to not only the spiritual but also the temporal, and we believe that a person who is impoverished temporally cannot blossom spiritually.” Keith McMullin - Counsellor in Presiding Bishopric
"One, two, three...let's go shopping!" Thomas S Monson - Prophet, Seer, Revelator
Non Mormons will think hmmm, Mormonism? Type in "Mormonism" into Google and the flood gates will open.
They're not going to gain anything more than to further pacify their own members into staying full tithe payers.
"Aren't we wonderful? Aren't we marvelous? Aren't we Christian?"
Yet today - Easter Sunday - Mormons aren't celebrating Easter, no, they're having "Fast and Testimony Meeting" where they blather on to each other how they just KNOW the Cult is true and that Joseph Smith was a Prophet - I mean I know that Savior lives! Because I pay my tithing and I'm so blessed!
Were a non-member sitting in a Mormon sacrament meeting today I'm sure they'd be out the door and never come back.

Missionaries in my area specifically try and avoid bringing investigators to Fast & Testimony until after they are baptised because they know that once the investigator witnesses that meeting there is no chance of getting them into the font.

All bluster aside, and I've never been to an LDS service, is this really true? I just can't imagine that it would be, but is it? Can someone else weigh in on this? (not that I don't believe you, but confirmation is always nice)

Fast & Testimony seems to be a series of tearful anecdotal tales where ordinary day to day random events are ascribed eternal significance and divine cause and effect.

Easter this year falls on the Sunday after GC. Unless other meetings (like maybe stake conference or ward conference) fall on the Sunday after GC, the meeting is Fast and Testimony meeting. So... we did not have any Easter-specific talks today... we had testimonies, which to my way of thinking, is always a good day to stay home.

We moved April F&T meeting to the last Sunday in March, which if I recall was a church wide directive. Why Harmony's ward did not do this I do not know. Our ward had speaker who focused on Easter topics.
That said an Easter F&T meeting could be very Christ centered if the lead testifier set the proper tone.

Well, we still have a picture of Christ on the wall. I guess you know where that puts us.
Personally, I was appalled. One of the best talks I ever heard from my ward pulpit took place on Easter... it was an absolutely amazing meeting. Of course, that was 25 years ago.
