And with that focused attention comes the partisan bickering, with each candidate making claims about the differences in their campaigns. Despite the differences, however, there is one similarity between Obama and Romney: polygamy is in their family tree.

The difference is it was part of the culture in the case of Obama's grandpa. It would be like comparing someone who had ancestors that were part of a primitive tribe that practiced cannibalism to someone who was related to Jeffrey Dahmer. That being said, I don't think Mitt Romney should be held accountable for what his ancestors did.

So why does one group get a culture pass and not another?

I guess for one, Mitt Romney believes polygamy is a divine law of God, and Obama doesn't.

I'm going on the assumption that Obama's grandpa's polygamy was legal and socially acceptable in Kenya. Mormon polygamy has never been legal or socially acceptable in the US. From the 1830s up until the FLDS today, Mormon polygamy is contrary to US laws and social customs. But what their ancestors did should not be an issue for either candidate.

Okay, I see what you meant now.
