Beer Battered Food-Breaking the WoW or not?

Post by _just me »

Too bad POLLS don't work!

Anyway. Would you say that beer battered food (like fish or shrimp) is against the word of wisdom? (ignore the fact of how unhealthy it is for just a minute)

I buy it and certain people in my house will not eat it.

Vanilla extract (real not imitation), what about that? I have never met a Mormon who had a problem with eating something with vanilla extract in it.

What is the difference between vanilla extract and a little beer in the fried batter?

You are trying to apply logic to a tradition that is not based on common sense.

You can tell the activity level of a Mormon by the temperature of caffeine they drink.

I wouldn't drink or eat any caffeine. What did that make me?

Calm, cool and collected.

by the way, I think caffeine is in a lot of food that we don't know about. Are you telling me you don't eat chocolate?

Guess what! We just started making beer batters for our fish. We recently moved to an area that has more fish available and we happen to have beer sitting around with nowhere to go. The kids love it. We had this awesome apricot porter that we used with the salmon. Mmmmm.

My sis reported that her mission companion would sneak out at night to buy cough syrup 'cuz she was addicted to it. It would likely be more healthy to be drinking martinis on P-days. Shaken, not stirred...

My dad was shocked when he found out my peach pie crust had vodka in it. My BIL decided to go with the rice crispies instead of my pie. [cry]

Oh, everyone knows that chocolate doesn't count!  Dayum. It just goes to prove how we have blind spots when it comes to our own choices. LMAO

So funny! I make my own vanilla with vodka. So, technically, all the baked goods we make have about 1-2 teaspoons of vodka in them.

How much do you use for the crust? It can't be much...

WOWZA! That's 12 teaspoons. That's about 1 1/2 tsp per slice. You must be getting everyone drunk!!!!

Zee, did you put the vodka in knowing that your TBM family would be coming?
