He really gave a succinct summary of the phenomenon in saying "before I had all the answers. Now I Have nothing but questions."

That is why it just boggles my mind when Mormons claim exmormons leave due to pride. It's the exact opposite of pride. It is humility and a recognition of our fundamental limits as a species.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Some do and some don't. Mormons who claim that some leave due to pride, do so because some members do. I have not seen any Mormon claim that one size fits all.

For example, I just saw a church film today in sunday school about a high school student who became inactive. I saw no pride in the film at all. Rather I saw someone who chose to live a life that was different from a LDS life. And she was brought back to the fold by the spirit and with the help of a follow high school student.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world.

He sounds a little screwed up in the video. And a little confused. And I wish him luck.

How does one loose their belief in Mormonism? ;)

You can't help yourself can you whyme. Always negative about someone who leaves. maybe he is just being honest after doing the research for the proposed movie on Joseph Smith, he just found it absurd.
Whyme, i think any Mormon who finds its all a hoax is going to be confused. He is wondering where to now,

Imagine this scene.

Joseph Smith (to Zina Hintington) "God told me that you are to be a plural wife to me"
Zina " But I love Lyn, and anyway you already have a number of other wives, for example the Partridge sisters"

Joseph Smiths tells Lyn Jacobs "I will not be officiating at your wedding, Zina is mine"

Forward some time - Joseph Smith dead

BY " Zina is now my wife for this life and will be sealed to Joseph for the next life. Lyn you had better find another. Don't worry about your kids, Joseph will be able to take them to a higher level in the CK, Now I want you to go on a mission. Whats wrong Lyn? Will some of your take this blubbering idiot away on a stretcher?"

I don't know what confuses why me (I'll let him speak for himself). I just marvel at Mormons that do things like this and don't know if there is a God, haven't ever bothered speaking with God, and then state they found some disturbing fact about Joseph Smith or some other part of Mormon history (or books) that caused them to lose faith.

I was an ex-mormon. The reason I left Mormonism was because I didn't believe in God and had no evidence of God. There is no point to believing in Joseph Smith, magic gold books, or anything else for that matter if that is your position. I suspect that is true here as well. After all, if this man knew there was a God and had spoke with him, who cares what Joseph Smith did or did not do.

Tobin wrote:After all, if this man knew there was a God and had spoke with him, who cares what Joseph Smith did or did not do.

But if the man's behavior suggests that he is unscrupulous and untruthful, then even if we assume that:

1. There is a deity

and

2. That deity at some point addressed Joseph Smith in some manner

then how can we rely on Smith's account of what the deity said to him? The moral quality of Smith's actions is highly material to how we react to his theological or factual claims (as, for instance, that he had found ancient gold plates and spoken to an angel).

Further, I am puzzled by the use of the phrase "if this man knew there was a God". That kind of construction might make sense in a context such as ""John knew that hydrogen had a nucleus consisting of a single proton", where we have an undisputed fact, and we are saying that John knew that fact. But in the context of this board, the proposition that "the deity of Christianity exists" cannot reasonably be treated as such an undisputed fact.

That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

This coming from a person who admits to being inactive for 35+ years, admits to attending catholic mass far more times during the year, and has also admitted to being addicted to porn.

I am sure he would wish you luck as well.

By being made of lead?

(Yes, we all know PP meant to type "led him to lose" but it was irresistible.)
