The FP/12 had the SLCPD in their pocket at least as early as the '30s, when both the Church and the cops were spying on the local branch of the Communist Party.

Was the Church recruited by the police due to the usefulness their organization's members could provide in the spying or did the Church get involved with spying on the Communist Party due to their own reasons\objectives.

This reminds me of an experience I had in Japan when employed with an American Company in a Joint Venture with a Russian Mafia business venture immediately after the breakup of the Soviet Union. Every single employee of the Russian Mafia side of the Joint Venture we were in were ex-KGB. (Ex my ass as I learned)

Anyways.....when in Japan in the employ of this Joint Venture I had an experience with a contact with two Mormon missionaries had with me which gives me certain knowledge that the Church's missionaries are occasionally used by the CIA for information gathering.

Oh, ... Just to be a little more clear about this conversation I had with the two missionary fellows and not be mistaken for one who wears tinfoil hats,

I have no doubt whatsoever that these two fellows had no knowledge of on who's actual ultimate behalf or what the possible reasons were for the request for them to approach me asking some questions. I am in no way claiming they were actually and knowingly government agents of any type.

.... Man, the bizarre stories I could tell of the interactions and experiences I had with working with and along side of these "ex" KGB fellows from the Russian Mafia run company's side of the joint business venture we had with them for 2 years...... The absolute weirdest experiences of my life. But then those anecdotes would be way off topic for this forum.

I was considering doing just that or adding another blog site to my tumblr account solely on that topic. (I love the ease and how awesomely fast it is to make tumblr posts and the convenience of having all of my dozen or so tumblr sites all on one account and all of them within one user control panel)

3rd edit to add: Dang! RIM's flippin' BlackBerry data compression server is acting up at the moment. I had to edit this post twice before the post was delivered and appearing correctly. Hopefully they will have these glitches corrected by the time I make my next post. Love the more than quadrupling of the speed and time it takes a page to load that the RIM servers provide though with their data compression.

Actually, I think it was the other way around--the Church drafted local law enforcement assets to surveil communists and labor agitators in Utah during the ‘30s. J. Reuben Clark, a firm believer in anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, saw international communism as an element in a wider, Jewish-led conspiracy for world domination. JRC was a big fan of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion and an all-around nut case.

Though, according to Danny Peterson, everybody back then was an anti-Semite and a closet Nazi-sympathizer, so therefore we shouldn't judge them by today's standards.

I'd like to add my vote for an Old Testament thread on the Russian Mafia.
