That you don't understand the significance of an IRI copyright further establishes that, unlike J Green and me, you have not had any formal training in matters of church publications and policies regarding official doctrine.

And neither have you if such training exists. Why would the membership in general not have this training? Do you honestly believe the Church says "Teach the Doctrine" and yet has no doctrine?

That's not quite correct. Above the copyright notice are links to church-owned educational facilities, including the colleges and universities and the MTC. Below that is a link to the church's web site. The copyright notice is below that link.

If you click on the copyright notice, you get a long statement from BYU about their copyright authority, making it clear that university holds the copyright. Also, there are several disclaimers, including the following:

The inclusion of materials, by reference, link, or otherwise does not necessarily imply endorsement by or affiliation with BYU, or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

so everything on the BYU website is Official Church Doctrine, including the Devotional Speeches http://speeches.BYU.edu/
