Nobody is complaining about guys looking. But when a guy turns into a lecherous ass, who's fault is it? If you have a nice car that you worked hard for, and you like to drive it around to turn heads, and a guy steals it, is it your fault for tempting him?

Unfortunately, the analogy does not work. Women know that when they wear something hot, sexy and revealing they will get the reaction that they are seeking and our putting thoughts into the male mind.

The same could be said about someone who buys an expensive sports car. A less expensive sedan would get you from point A to point B just as well, so what is the motivation to drive around in a fancy sports car? Using your logic, the only reason is to make others jealous, or to make them covet it, or to get girls hot and bothered. Therefore, it is your own fault if someone covets the car so much they steal it, or are so jealous of you that they vandalize it, or are so turned on that they offer to perform lewd sex acts for you. Their behavior was caused by your actions.

I'm pretty sure why me has a mannequin just like that one in his bedroom closet, keeping watch over him at night. A guardian angel, if you will.

It's name is Succubus.

Exposed skin and immodest clothing can introduce thoughts into a person's mind that would have never existed otherwise. Such thoughts can be overpowering and lead to improper and immoral actions. Good people can stumble because of seemingly small situations

So what about all that stuff I learned from Stephen Covey and Victor Frankl about the space that exists between stimulus and response, and the freedom to choose? Do men not actually have the freedom to choose how they will respond to certain stimuli after all?

It is reported that President Brigham Young once said that he who takes offense when no offense is intended is a fool, and he who takes offense when offense is intended is usually a fool. It was then explained that there are two courses of action to follow when one is bitten by a rattlesnake. One may in anger, fear, or vengefulness pursue the creature and kill it. Or he may make full haste to get the venom out of his system. If we pursue the latter course we will likely survive, but if we attempt to follow the former, we may not be around long enough to finish it.

Men are "wired" to respond in all sorts of ways to all kinds of different stimuli. But in most every context the church has taught that the natural response is often the wrong one, and that we have the power and the responsibility to overrule instinct and choose the right. The natural man is an enemy to God, after all. Even the law recognizes that if fighting words incite violence, the inciter can be at fault, but God still holds us to a higher law.

So why, in this one context, are church leaders so quick to allow men to surrender responsibility over their actions? In the desert Satan tempted Jesus with food, power, and glory--who knew that all he needed to do was have a young woman with a bare midriff walk by, and Jesus would have been unable to resist?

I will give you an example. I remember an university professor telling me about one of his students. She would always come to class in a low cut blouse and she had nice size breasts. The poor guy did not know where to look when she would speak to him or bend down to get her pencil. Did she know that she may get such a reaction from the men? I think so.

Eyes when speaking. Duh. Her breasts could not have been so big that he couldn't look anywhere else without staring at them. He sounds like a pervert too.

I bet he was a math teacher. I would be willing to put money on it.

The math teachers I knew were most fascinated by different sets of curves. The kind of tan they enjoy seeing is so beautiful they sometimes think of it as a sin--or at least sin / cos.
