Since FAIR and Hamblin have decided that Bradford's refusal to address this issue concedes his guilt and confirms Hamblin's version of things, I wonder if they were also willing to apply that logic to this situation, where the apologists in the know have remained conspicuously silent on this matter.
According to the inside source, who has a history of getting things right, William Schryver is actually Hugh Nibley's offspring! Nibley and Schryver's mother had an affair when she was 19 and he was 49! He (my source) says that Nibley persuaded the young girl that he (Nibley) had been secretly authorized by the First Presidency to engage in secret plural marriage, "just like Joseph Smith had done". He (Nibley) convinced the girl that plural marriage is actually still practiced secretly in the church and that many of the apostles and other general authorities have secret plural wives who are married "for time" to other men, but "for eternity" to church leaders.
He says Schryver has known about his true parentage since right after Nibley died, but that Nibley never knew that his young mistress had gotten pregnant and had a child. He says they had Ugo Perego do the DNA testing to confirm it, and this is the reason why Will has been given such deep access to Book of Abraham materials, and it's likely why DCP has befriended him. He says that now Schryver is basically black-mailing the church by promising to keep the information secret so long as they will let him have access to the church archives, "in order to finish his father's life work".
Again, I don't know of any way to verify the information beyond the fact that my source in Salt Lake City is in a position to know about these things and he has always been reliable in the past.
The most recent comment from the informant states:
I was amazed that no one (Schryver, Peterson, Perugo, etc.) said anything thing about your bastard child thread. It was met with a total wall of silence. Maybe that was their strategy all along? I mean, the only response was from Nibley's son-in-law/biographer. He played the crowd for sympathy, alluding to the Martha Beck accusations and more or less whimpering "can't you just leave our family alone already?" And that was all it took to get everyone to abandon the topic altogether. Great tactic, don't you think? They pretty much killed the story without addressing it at all. Genius. I always underestimate Mormons when it comes to things like that.
So following Hamblin's logic, their refusal to address this issue is evidence that it is true!
Not that I necessarily believe it is.
I get all sorts of people emailing me "information" about people over there. Remember the time one of Schryver's childhood friends emailed me and explained that Schryver's front tooth was knocked out of his head via fist? That turned out to be true.
