The problem is presentism. Today it seems bad to be a concubine, but that's because of the feminists. Feminists have made being a concubine a bad thing. Back in the good old days, women loved being concubines.
Doh! Silly me. I guess it would have been very desirable to be a slave and forced to have sex and carry babies for your owner. I just gotsta stop thinkin' like a modern.

The "good old days"?
What do you mean? Concubinage is still alive and very popular. Many women are all for it: 21st Century Concubinage
Sigh...how much evidence do we need that Joseph was more interested in restoring Old Testament practices than he was in restoring a New Testament Church.
He wasn't a Biblical King like David or Solomon, but he seems to have thought he was one. Delusions of grandeur indeed.
Why oh why did I give this man my trust for 20 years of my developing life...

Yeah, but Ted Turner does it for his own pleasure. Joseph Smith and Brigham Young only did it because god forced them to, and to take care of old widow women.

Huh?
I hope you're not being serious.
You simply must not be serious.
Go back and read the quotes in the first post of the thread:
"I believe in concubinage, or some plan whereby men and women can live together under sacred ordinances and vows until they can be married.... such a condition would have to be kept secret, until the laws of our government change to permit the holy order of wedlock which God has revealed, which will undoubtedly occur at no distant day, in order to correct the social evil...." - George Q. Cannon
"I have no doubt but concubinage will yet be practiced in this church, but I had not thought of it in this connection. When the nations are troubled good women will come here for safety and blessing, and men will accept them as concubines." - Pres. Snow
"If men enter into some practice of this character to raise a righteous posterity, they will be justified in it..." - Pres. Woodruff
Nothing about being forced into it, or taking care of old widows.
It's all about "the mighty bulls of Ephraim multiplying their seed upon the goodly land."
Where? It only mentions the acceptable ancient practice.
39 aDavid’s wives and concubines were bgiven unto him of me, by the hand of Nathan, my servant, and others of the prophets who had the ckeys of this power; and in none of these things did he dsin against me save in the case of eUriah and his wife; and, therefore he hath ffallen from his exaltation, and received his portion; and he shall not inherit them out of the world, for I ggave them unto another, saith the Lord.
40 I am the Lord thy God, and I gave unto thee, my servant Joseph, an aappointment, and restore all things. Ask what ye will, and it shall be given unto you according to my word.
Is there evidence of Joseph Smith asking for the doctrine on concubines?

Is that doctrine?
