Ray,

I would think that you'd be in a special position to understand why Dehlin might be upset.

that's all we need to know ... right?

No, it's not all we need to know. We need to know exactly who this GA is. John says he's "protecting" the GA. Is this GA ashamed of what he did? Was McKay afraid to support McMurrin? More importantly, does this GA have the full backing of all the GAs? From some of the comments here, that's the impression being given. I'd find that quite remarkable, given the history of dissension among GAs, from Pratt-Young to JFS-B.H.Roberts, and so on.

People get tired, ya know?

So ask Danny already.
"And the human knew the source of life, the woman of him, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, 'I have procreated a man with Yahweh.'" Gen. 4:1, interior quote translated by D. Bokovoy.

No, we don't. We are on a need to know basis, and we don't need to know.

Good grief.

No, he wouldn't. If that was the case, he'd cease and desist with the smears, the hit-pieces, the mean-spirited attacks, the email and PM manipulation, and so on. He hasn't. All he's done is retreat to a blog where comments aren't allowed. You once seriously castigated MAD/MDD for this sort of thing, but you're giving this guy--who has been incredibly manipulative and cruel towards you in the past, as you yourself have admitted--a free pass.

I thought it was well said. I support him 100% in this. Doubtless it is John Dehlin, who has dealt on a personal basis with many of the people that LDS apologists have abused in different venues. In fact, many of us have to one degree or another been insulted, threatened, and so forth by one of these self-appointed hit men. Until someone comes forward to show me on what authority they are attacking their fellow LDS folk, I am happy to tell them exactly how low my regard is for them. They view us as a threat to the LDS Church. Well, I view them as a threat to the LDS Church.

You have the last bit wrong. It was I who was "incredibly manipulative and cruel towards" him. Does he have faults and biases? Most certainly - just like all of us, including you, believe it or not.

What position did McKay occupy at the time, Ray? What was different about the historical situation? I am sure that an extremely bright person like yourself can come up with numerous solid reasons why your demand is ridiculous.
