Hamblin just confirmed that the hit piece was 104 pages. And Both Schryver and Peterson confirmed that it IS a hit piece, devoted entirely to attacking Dehlin's character. They just don't see anything wrong with that.

Dr. Scratch's informant seems to be very accurate indeed.

If you read my OP with the understanding that it was written before this whole affair was confirmed it'll make more sense to you.

for what it's worth, I actually do think that at least one of Scratch's informants has been deliberately trolling him misinformation. There was a string of missives concerning FARMS and the Packer and Oaks factions that simply did not appear credible and never received any corroboration. And it would not at all surprise me if Dan was aware of this trolling and at least tacitly approved of it.

However, I don't find it suspicious that Scratch has a number of informants. His demonstrated interest in this sort of thing is bound to bring new informants out of the woodwork, sort of like how George Takei's fans supply him with most of his funny Facebook memes.

But I doubt Takei's people create the drama Scratch and his mysterious "informants" do. Sorry, I think a lot of it is just Scratch inflating his ego. I'm surprised he hasn't named himself Deep Throat.

You may be right, though I'm less sure. The main "corroboration" was the "intel" about Oaks going to meet with Scott Gordon. Gordon himself denied that the meeting had anything to do with apologetics, though I'm not convinced that he was telling the truth. Further, we already know that Elders Oaks and Packer don't see eye to eye on certain things: remember Oaks's "trying to stage manage a grizzly bear" quip? I wouldn't at all be surprised if their opinions on MI apologetics were divided as well.

And it would not at all surprise me if Dan was aware of this trolling and at least tacitly approved of it.

Maybe this is true. But where is the evidence? Merely Dan's say-so? Further, how is this in any way a positive reflection on him: that he would allow negative (and false) gossip to turn up on the boards, and to do absolutely nothing about it? I wondered at one point whether one of my main "informants" was actualy trolling, but decided in the end that if this was the case, it would only wind up reflecting worse on the apologists.
