When Did LDS Leaders Change the Law of Chastity?

Post by _just me »

Currently the Law of Chastity as outlined in the LDS temple ceremony is that men and women will not have sexual relations with anyone they are not legally married to.

When did this change? I imagine it must have changed at some point post-OD1. Prior to that having sexual relations with someone you were not legally married to was perfectly fine as long as you were "sealed" to them.

Why does the LoC change...why isn't it an eternal principle?

Well, if it was by revelation then it must be published in the D&C otherwise it wouldn't be doctrine and would, therefore, be an apostate practice...

That's what I fear. The church has gone off the rails.

The LoCh hasn't changed that I can see. Sometimes the descriptions have to change to ensure people understand. For example, that plural marriage is not an authorized practice at this time.

Amazing. Such drama over an attempt to find a technicality.

It has changed from allowing for sexual relations between people who are not legally married to only allowing for those legally married to have sexual relations. That's a pretty big change.

I don't see any drama, perhaps you could point it out to me. :geek:

It's merely a change in how a legitimate spouse is identified, not in any of the principles behind the LoCh itself.

What? No.. The Church is now off it's rails!!! A mere word of "legal" just changes the entire premise!

The drama! :)
