Whether or not the LDS church currently practices plural marriage, they still believe in it. Is he lyin' for the Lord, or is he Mormon in Name Only?
Mormons don't currently allow one man to be married more than one woman on earth. They don't seem to be in any hurry to change their practice. So I don't see any problem with his statement.

So "marriage" isn't a term that is applicable to the NEXT LIFE in Mormon theology?
This type of response is the equivalent of parsing over the word IS, or SEX. (see: Monica Lewinski)
Under Mormon theology, marriage is NOT between "one man and one woman".
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

For matters of public policy purposes in 2012 (and no doubt as long as anyone living right now is around) Mormons only accept marriage between one man and one woman. The public policy of the Mormon Church with regards to the law is that marriage is between one man and one woman and that is the policy Romney expressed.

But as beastie pointed out, that is only marriage on earth that is so restricted.
In the next life, an exalted man may have more than one wife, no?
Zadok: I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis. Maksutov: That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.
It really is very odd that Mormons, of all people, oppose non-traditional marriage laws. [scratching head]

Yes or no. Under Mormon theology, marriage can be one man and more than one wife.
Simple question.

He's running for President, not chief theologian. I'm sure he is stating what he believes public policy should be in 2012 here on earth.

You're dodging the ball, pal. Bottom line is: Mormonism doesn't officially practice polygamy on earth because the federal government of the United States forced the church to cease the practice. The church had no choice other than to comply or force having the temples raided by the feds and church leaders tossed in jail for breaking the law.
But today, men can still be sealed to more than one wife just as they have been able to since the days of Joseph Smith. That's polygamy in heaven! How do you feel about polygamy in heaven?
