Re: From My Informant: Was Bokovoy Blackballed at BYU?
My wife having grown up with David, and me having heard his interpretation that only Liberal Democratic Mormons are good Mormons and that people at BYU get degrees in non-critical thinking areas like Business, Information Technologies, or other sources that are incompatible with LDS theologies, I can not imagine he hasn't ruffled some conservative behavior in certain circles.
Sorry, I wouldn't buy into the theory that he is innocent and a poor victim.
Just my humble opinion.

I like how Skains finds it totally cool that having controversial opinions is a great way to gauge someone’s contribution.

That was a rather weak swipe. But having ugly opinions that basically box conservative Mormons as bad isn't a good way to make friends and influence people. Course that ideology is rather lost here at the trailer park. :P

It is bad form to spread rumors though. I know you like dirt, but isn't it rather bad form to spread these ideas without asking his permission?

I suspect he doesn't post here is mostly driven by the inability of others to allow him to comment on the topic of thread (whatever the topic may be).
What would happen if he posted on this thread? That's easy... half a dozen posters would immediately bring up what they consider to be unanswered questions on other topics. They wouldn't let him just comment on this thread, and this topic... oh no! They'd have to dog him and dog him about OTHER topics.
I wouldn't post here either, if I was hounded like he is.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

I think that Dan's problem is that he likes the attention, even negative attention, and courts it. He did so on this very board. He could post here quite happily if he so chose and he could utilise the ignore feature to drown out some of the white noise that he would undoubtedly encounter.
However, when he paints himself into a corner and is faced with difficult or embarrassing questions he runs away stating lack of time; more important things to do; being picked on; etc, etc. In effect, he creates the climate for his own hounding.
That said, this thread is not about Dan.

BYU represents a paycheck, yet I would worry that David Bokovoy's scholarship and integrity would be compromised by the BYU of 2012. Perhaps like Ralph Waldo Emerson, he can return to give the BYU Declaration of Academic Freedom sometime in the future.
Along the way, BYU's loss will be some other institution's gain.

That problem is partly of his own making, because of his persistent preference for rhetoric and avoidance tactics of various kinds over responses to substantive issues. But I think moderation should be able to handle any derails, shouldn't it?
I do not see DCP as a sensitive soul who is easily hurt by the rudeness of nasty rough trailer park denizens. He has a hide of steel when in his internet mode - though no doubt in private life he is gentle as a lamb.
