I do not see DCP as a sensitive soul who is easily hurt by the rudeness of nasty rough trailer park denizens. He has a hide of steel when in his internet mode - though no doubt in private life he is gentle as a lamb.

We Moderators now are consistently "damned if we do, damned if we don't". People here are attacked on a regular basis. We just move the attacks to Telestial. We also do split threads as best we can, but when derailments evolve to the point of no return, a lot of times, it is just easier to move the whole bloody thread to Telestial, which we have all done on more than one occasion.

I don't think it is so much that DCP is a "sensitive soul" who can't deal with the likes of "trailer park denizens". I think it is more of a case where, due to time constraints in his own schedule, he simply chooses not to. And, as Harmony pointed out, I don't blame him for that.

Agreed. It is much less time consuming to obsessively lurk at this board and post slams on MDD and Sic et Non. It would take much more time to interact with the people you are constantly fretting over and attacking.

All the while he doesn't realize that more and more onlookers are seeing this:

I don't blame anybody for thinking that there are better things to do with life than fight with total strangers on a message board, or post up your opinions for all to see (even if, like DCP, you ensure that nobody gets to comment). However, the record shows that Daniel Peterson has, for many years, seen things differently. He has posted a LOT. It's something he has always found time for.

Indeed, he has not even now left this board alone: as has been discussed elsewhere, he sends people on this board messages with the apparent aim of getting his opinion put on record here, even if he is unwilling to appear in person.

I appreciate that your view of DCP is different from mine, but from what I observed of DCP's (latest) departure from here, it was associated with awkward situations on more than one thread, where DCP simply did not seem able to find a face-saving way of responding to the issues that were put to him. So he bailed (again).

But, as they say ... some people can leave MDB, but they can't leave it alone.

I saw it as more of a case of people wanting a response from Dan "lickety split--right now" when Dan had other more pressing things on his plate. When Dan didn't give the answers in the timely fashion that others on the threads in question found appropriate, they ran at him with personal attacks, and accusations that since he did not answer their questions in their named timetable, he must not be answering to "save face". IMHO, he just got tired of dealing with it. And, I can't really say that I blame him.

If Daniel didn't have MDB, he would simply find another group of people he could fight with and slam in another venue. As he has told us on more that one occasion in the past, he is positively riveted to the spectacle of those who complain about the LDS Church. He can't get enough of it.

I can't say that you blame him either: you very clearly don't. But others will no doubt read our posts and make their judgements.

As well they should.

What is this relationship you have with DCP for MDB? Why can't he just log back into this message board and respond to these messages? Obviously he is reading these threads with great interest.

What, are you now his personal translator?

It is unfortunate because the real DCP isn't coming through, only your sanitized version of him is.

Dan and I have been pretty close friends now for the past 3-4 years. He has helped me with some personal issues, and has been a good sounding board for some professional guidance.

I have always spoken up for my friends. I don't view this as any different. I have done it for you; I have done it for Runtu; I have done it for Blixa; I have done it for Kish; I have done it for Paul; I have done it for Harmony...the list could go on.
