Hallucinogen persisting perception disorder (HPPD) is a disorder characterized by a continual presence of sensory disturbances, mostly commonly visual, that are reminiscent of those generated by the ingestion of hallucinogenic substances. Previous use of hallucinogens by the person is necessary, but not sufficient, for diagnosis of HPPD. For an individual to be diagnosed with HPPD, the symptoms cannot be due to another medical condition. HPPD is distinct from flashbacks by reason of its relative permanence; while flashbacks are transient, HPPD is persistent. HPPD is a DSM-IV diagnosis with diagnostic code 292.89.
Flashbacks are often associated with mental illness as they are a symptom and a feature in diagnostic criteria for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), acute stress disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).[22] Flashbacks have also been observed in people suffering from manic depression, depression, homesickness, near-death experiences, epileptic seizures, and drug abuse.[21] Some researchers have suggested that the use of some drugs can cause a person to experience flashbacks [23][24]; users of lysergic acid diethylamide sometimes report "acid flashbacks". While other studies show that the use of drugs, specifically cannabis, can help reduce the occurrence of flashbacks in people with PTSD.[25]
In other words, acid flashbacks or HPPD best describe your supernatural experience. Which one depends on if it was a one time deal or if you have a lot of "supernatural" experiences.

It has nothing to do with "how hard you work" at all actually. It is between you and God. You have to be willing to listen and God must speak with you. You have to realize you can not compell it and in turn, you must be called and ready for it. I don't think God would have appeared in my life if I wouldn't have responded and it was helpful to me. And I certainly couldn't compell it either. I prayed for years as a Mormon for such an answer and never received one until after I had long since left.
