Race, Religion, Politics

Post by _Kishkumen »

In our small online bubble, where we see too much of bcspace, Droopy, Will Schryver, and Daniel Peterson, it is interesting and refreshing to be reminded of the existence of other views.

Take a look at this article on black Mormons and their politics.

Of more than a dozen black Mormons interviewed for this article across the country, eight were Democratic-leaning Obama supporters, two were undecided, and two others said they were committed to voting for Mr. Romney.

“With respect to Romney being a Mormon, bless his heart,” said Tracie J. Walker, 48, of Washington. “I think he’s a strange character. He got confused by money, I think. So he doesn’t understand reality today.”

After a long time on these boards, in the online world, it's hard to remember that Mopologetics are not Mormonism. They have nothing to do with Mormonism. Making peace with Peterson does not equal coming to terms with apostasy.

Refreshing indeed.

Birds of a feather.... Which is too bad actually. It can take a while before one overcomes their racial prejudices to become convinced of LDS doctrine and vote conservatively.

This alone should disabuse anyone of the notion that Obama is not confused by money:

What bcspace is essentially saying is black people have no place in the LDS church.

What bcspace is saying is that once free of left wing millstones blacks or anyone for that matter will accept the Church. At the moment, any Democrat or other left winger, black or white, does not now accept the Church. It's absolutely impossible.

It seems unlikely that LDS doctrine has divorced itself from Christianity and become an appendage of the John Birch Society. Feels more like a right-wing coup that will never be finalized.

Bcspace, what about us Latter-day Saints who are neither left wing nor conservative? For some time now I've been comfortable as a moderate. Where do I stand in your view?

Someone should sig-line this because it proves bspace is a Democrat. Since undoubtedly, bcspace has endorsed a "republican" at some point who is not a member of the Church, the endorsee must be a Democrat "in sheeps clothing" and not a republican at all. And because bcspace has supported democrats and being republican is "all or nothing," then it follows bcpsace is a Democrat. Wow, a little embarrassed? A Democrat, really?

Anticipating bcspaces weasling -- "but they will accept it in the next life and no Democarts will, in the next life, everything I've ever been owned on will work out in my favor by definition."

I guess it is impossible for Larry Echo Hawk to accept the church, him being a Democrat Lamanite. The church must have erred in making him a General Authority. bcspace, this is from the official LDS Public Affairs. How in the world do you interpret this?
