Will Creationism become extinct
"And the human knew the source of life, the woman of him, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, 'I have procreated a man with Yahweh.'" Gen. 4:1, interior quote translated by D. Bokovoy.

Re: Will Creationism die
I think he is overconfident because he has lived his whole life as famous paleoanthropologist. His parents were famous paleoanthropologists. How much time has he spent in Texas and Oklahoma? More/better evidence is not going to overcome the twisted ideology that is the overriding cause of skepticism. His sense of impending victory is pitifully naïve.

I'd reiterate what The Dude said, only with more emphasis. He's overconfident to the point of being completely oblivious. Almost half of the United States believes in a young earth. Does Leaky not think there has been enough scientific discovery on that question to resolve any skeptic to satisfaction? He doesn't seem to understand what animates the creationists at all.

I agree with Dude and EAllusion. Leakey is just another godless scientist, probably under the influence of satan. Why would people take the word of an atheist scientist over their prophet/minister/pope/rabbi/supreme leader, etc?

Even today there are adherents to the flat earth theory.
Sounds like that that paleoanthropologist needs to realize that "the works of God continue, and worlds and lives abound; improvement and progression have one eternal round. That there is no end to matter; there is no end to space; there is no end to spirit and there is no end to race". Of course that does not rule out evolution, but still it would be nice for him to know.

Wouldn't you have to give up the Bible?

Re: Will Creationism become extinct
Humans, as a species, apparently need to evolve a bit more in order to throw off the myths and superstitions of their collective past and be able to appreciate and accept evolutionary theory. Fortunately for the majority on the Earth who do not understand and accept this theory, some of the minority who do have been able to use it to derive great benefit for all humankind.
In terms of evolution, religion is sort of like the appendix of human thought. Religion was helpful in the distant human past, helping humans to form mutually supportive social groups with common goals and ethos.
The appendix was also helpful in the distant human past, allowing us to extract more nutrients from plants eaten as food. But now, neither the appendix or religion serve any real useful purpose and, when adequately inflamed, both can kill you.

Creationists don't let little details like evidence deter them.

They (creationists) will fall off the earth during an intercontinental flying.
