The video is pretty tame, but the funniest thing is the story DCP makes with it. Why the convoluted story DCP??

That is what's so pathetic. If he could laugh at himself and admit he watched it, instead of blaming some anonymous "friend", it wouldn't be a big deal. His cover-up is funnier than his crime.

Actually, I can understand him saying something. Facebook is looked at by friends, colleagues, etc. If someone from BYU saw it, he could be in trouble from a job perspective.

I have a Facebook account, but don't use it that often. I can see how something like this could happen. If something like that had happened to me, I would be embarrassed, and would have likely said something. I have work colleagues who are friends of mine on Facebook, and that is something that I would be concerned about from just a common reputation standpoint.

Still, for what it's worth, Dan, if you are reading this here, I don't think it is that big of a deal. I am sure that your friends and colleagues know what type of person you are, and that this was a crazy mishap.

It does give one pause. I am going to have to monitor my Facebook account more carefully. It looks like we all should; it sounds like it is becoming a little "big brotherish".

Too bad he isn't smart enough to turn that feature off.

Made my day. In fact, with the amount of excitement we have around here (not much), it probably made my week.

Here is a question: If the same thing were posted about Dr. Scratch, and the good Dr. were to offer the same explanation for the post as DCP, what would you imagine the reactions (both private and overt) of the true believers would be?

This has been a truly illuminating moment. It just feels right: the world seems a better place to live in knowing that Dan Peterson watches videos featuring "hot booty shaking." You know, I think that I will screen this film for my graduate Mopologetics Studies seminar, and we can then practice deconstructing the semiotics therein and view them through a Schryverian lens of doctrinal theory.

Now, if you don't mind, I must catch a plane to Bhutan.

I assume he's more book smart than tech smart, just as most kids today are more tech smart than book smart.

I don't think you have that power if you accept the Socialcam ap, which is designed to spread the word about videos you watch. Once you watch the video, Socialcam tells everybody so they can watch it too. It posts on your friends' wall and you've lost control.

Many times I have clicked on an interesting-looking video on Facebook and been notified that I have to accept the ap to watch the video. Every time I see that I go, "nah, that kitten isn't cute enough to give up control of my privacy."

You can always turn off the ap later. Or just once you might forget and look foolish like DCP in this instance.

Ah, you're right. You can delete it from YOUR WALL, but it's already spread to everyone's feed. God I hate apps like this. I really hate the ones that tell everybody what news article you've read, etc. Do Not Want.
