It is up to the member if they want to wear garments. No one is forcing you to wear garments. It is recommended but at the end of the day, it is that person's choice. So, if one finds themselves in southern spain and it is very hot, one can wear what they wish. Who would know and who would care? Free agency.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world. Joseph Smith We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…” Joseph Smith

They should just do away with garments. They are silly. Just make some decals and sew them under your shirts and pants. Problem solved and the anti/ex/lunatic fringe can go find something else to do with themselves.

Tobin's reply is not really to the point. More germane to whyme's silly suggestion that wearing garments is a completely free decision by members is the twelfth question in the Temple Recommend interview:
If you have previously received your temple endowment: Do you keep the covenants that you made in the temple? Do you wear the garment both night and day as instructed in the endowment and in accordance with the covenant you made in the temple?
Wearing the garments day and night is not a matter where endowed members have a choice. They are 'instructed' to do so, and make a 'covenant' with the LDS deity to do so. Of course no-one comes round to their house and forcibly puts the garments on them. But to say " No one is forcing you to wear garments" completely misrepresents the situation.
But I suppose it is a very very long time since whyme had a Temple Recommend interview, if he ever did.
Zadok: I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis. Maksutov: That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.
Still waiting on Mr. Whyme to produce a doctrinal source for his heretical position.

Every record...falsified, every book rewritten...every statue...has been renamed or torn down, every date...altered...the process is continuing...minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Ideology is always right.

Let me try this again: no one is forced to wear garments. And that was my point. Also during a hot day, one can take off their garments and wear shorts etc. Just like that one can go swimming in a bathing suit. No problem. And if a member does not care to go the temple, the are more than free not to wear garments at all. They are not glued onto the body.

you have no idea what it means to be a Mormon.

It is common sense. Do you think that people are wearing garments all the time in hot places. No. Some are in the pool, some are in their backyard wearing shorts or sleeveless blouses etc. One does nothave to wear garments all the time. Common sense.

And you do? And the people here do? I wore garments for many years. But then, I took them off. No one cared and no one was bothered. It is a matter of choice.

Part of being a Mormon is making covenants with god. Real Mormons do not take their temple covenants lightly, as you did. No TBM would say the covenants they made at baptism and in the temple are optional.
