This was actually my first reaction: "Woah, does he have dreadlocks?" But then I soon realized his hair is just lacking a fine shampoo treatment the morning of this event.

If the disciples are praying, they are doing it wrong. Jews and early Christians did not do the 'joined hands' prayer gesture. They used instead the orans posture with raised hands:
