I have no credentials for my opinions, but I'm happy to share them anyway. Sexual Predator seems a bit strong a term for Joseph Smith. I think narcissism was his primary motivating trait. That ties in with being power-seeking, which seems quite obvious in him.

As far as preying on women, well, for some reason cult leaders always seem to end up with their pick of women, for whatever reason, part of which may be that women are attracted to power, and he may have been quite attractive physically as well. So, as far as adult women are concerned, he may not have had to knock himself out all that much. At any rate, I think his conquests of women were as much about power as about sex. Power in this life and fancied power in the next life. The young girls are more problematical and I don't feel quite up to think about that so much right now.

Anyway, Night Lion, good luck proving that Joseph Smith was innocent. He may not fit the FBI classifications for sexual predators, I suspect he wouldn't quite, but that doesn't make him innocent.

I have no credentials either, but I have watched several seasons of "Criminal Minds" on NETFLIX so I feel comfortable in stating my opinions. I do not believe that Joseph Smith was a pedophile either. I think he had a healthy sexual appetite and the power got to his head. I agree that it was as much about power as it was about sex and that is why I think a lot of the polyandry happened. Image the power rush he must have experienced when he took other men’s wives especially the ones who knew about it first. “Hey Brother Jacobs, I’m going to go ahead and shag your wife. Don’t worry I am going to marry her first so that it is all legit. You are cool with that right?”

I guess all you really know about Joseph is what you have heard from people who believe like what you just said. First off, nobody understand Joseph Smith period unless they first become a born again of fire and of the Holy Ghost prophet like Joseph Smith. Not that difficult really. Christ said that his yoke is easy and his burden is light. All it requires is faith that will not give up. Christ has done the heavy lifting to raise you up to a state of righteousness.

Take this insight and layer over that every word Joseph Smith ever spoke that we know of. Now you have some idea as to who and what Joseph Smith is at heart. I have done this and thought on Joseph Smith for a long time. With great affection for him I defend him against all naysayers.

What you say above that Joseph would have done for a power rush is plain wrong. A man who has forsaken the world sufficiently to come unto Christ acceptable is not going to give a Fig Newton about getting off on power by sexual exploits. All this tabloid history is putrid and sordid for intent and small wonder that homosexuals are the chief champions of it. They want to bring down to the level of the natural man that one man who stood up in his generation to WIN gloriously. And he did even though all around him failed still. Nobody knows why Joseph is recorded to have sealed to himself or that others have back dated sealings to Joseph with married women.

None of those women ever spoke up that Joseph made their husbands stand in the corner while he had his way with her just to gratify his power tripped out ego. Shut up! That is evil surmising.
