I responded without missing a beat, "That Jesus is the Christ and that Joseph Smith is his prophet."

He was a bit taken aback, saying he thought I would say something like I love my wife.

I don't know whether I would answer the same way today, but was interested in finding out from members of the board what (if anything) they would say they know to be true.

You were perched on your sitting post when someone walked up with a cracker.

"CRaaaa! Consigli wants a cracker!"

Its amazing how conditioned we were as "members" back then.

Scary to realize that most members are still that conditioned.

Truth: Barbra Streisand is hot.

And I don't want anyone giving me crap about subjectivity. This is cold, hard truth. It can be shown in many different ways, and has been proven to the Universe hundreds of times.

"Yes, say, what is truth? 'Tis the brightest prize to which mortals or Gods can aspire;"

Some gods (you know who you are!) have fallen a little short.

If we say that we know something is true, we obviously can't let the errant naysayer have the last word in a tyranny of the minority.

In other words, I think we don't need to have absolute consensus on any subject for it to be something we know to be true.

What somebody else thinks has nothing to do with truth.

But if that is correct, then should we not also say that nothing we think has anything to do with truth.

And if this is correct, can anybody say that they know anything is true?

All the Best!

Let me give this a go with something I know to be true--Knowledge is superior to ignorance.

Maybe we can go from there, though some wag will no doubt presently taunt me with the aphorism that ignorance is bliss.

Plato's Phaedrus taught me anything can be "true" through the use of convincing rhetoric.

Okay, let's bring this back on track, then.

I know that whatever is true exists entirely independent of any particular human's interpretation of said truth. In other words, there's no such thing as "your truth" or "my truth." There is only "the truth," and a person can either be correct or incorrect about it.

There is no devil. Mankind alone is responsible for all of mankind's problems.
