And I don't want anyone giving me s*** about subjectivity. This is cold, hard truth. It can be shown in many different ways, and has been proven to the Universe hundreds of times.

Hah, Zeez, I thought I knew you. Sort of, your in real life name and all. But no, you must be that greenie companion from Albert Lee, Minnisota I was assigned to train in 1971 while serving in Hobart, Indiana. Barbara Streisand was his Athena.

Some years ago, I remember walking to the store with a non-LDS lawyer friend of mine when he asked me out of the blue, "What do you know to be true?"

I responded without missing a beat, "That Jesus is the Christ and that Joseph Smith is his prophet."

He was a bit taken aback, saying he thought I would say something like I love my wife.

I don't know whether I would answer the same way today, but was interested in finding out from members of the board what (if anything) they would say they know to be true.

This seems odd to me. I would have said Jesus is the Christ, or Jesus is my Savior, or Jesus is God; but I would never have said Jesus is the Christ and Billy Graham is his spokesman. And I would never place God and a man on the same plane.

You might not want to make that same point with your Muslim friends.

That Jesus is the Christ and that Joseph Smith is his prophet. And, furthermore, that Thomas Monson is his prophet today.

Of course, this goes on the assumption that there is a good God in control of the universe, that loves us, wants us to know His will, and is able to answer prayer. I don't for a moment have difficulty making those four assumptions.

If you mean, what do I know to be true that doesn't rely on any assumptions at all, then there's, "I know that I can't know that I can't know anything." Sorry for the levels of indirection; I just can't think of anything else I strictly know to be true, right off the top of my head.

Does God mind if someone places Him and a man on the same plane, so to speak? Is it possible that God might actually want us to put Him and a man on the same plane?
