Blixa ~

You truly have mad skills!

Your drawing reminds me of this one:

I'm so glad the planets aligned (i.e. the router at this old beach condo is putting out a decent signal intermittently) and I got to see your drawing. Now, if only the rain would stop so we could get back down to the waves and sand. ;)

Glad you liked it. I did originally want to include the red egg symbolism after reading about it; I wanted to try for a combo of the western penitent Magdalene and the more eastern orthodox "egg apostle." I got to read some interesting things while looking through Magdalene representations, so I learned a lot while drawing it!

I love that story as an illustration of a powerful female disciple. She's such a compelling figure which explains, I suppose, the abundance of depictions in art and references in music and literature.

Rain continues and the fam is restless... I'm off in search of a fun afternoon activity...

Nice, Blixa.

The definition of absinthe is jolting.

- now prohibited in many countries because of its toxicity
- see also vermouth
- it's considered habit forming and hazardous to health
- it caused harmful neurological effects

Caveats:
Ernest Hemingway, Charles Baudelaire, Paul Verlaine, Arthur Rimbaud, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Amedeo Modigliani, Vincent van Gogh, Oscar Wilde, Aleister Crowley and Alfred Jarry were all known absinthe drinkers.

The Absinthe Drinker by Viktor Oliva (1861–1928):

- Whenever a poet or preacher, chief or wizard spouts gibberish, the human race spends centuries deciphering the message. - Umberto Eco
- To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin. - Cardinal Bellarmine at the trial of Galilei

Yay ludwig! Viktor Oliva was my inspiration, but I wanted to give Gramps more "girlfriends" (as well as a slightly younger and less posh visage)...

Absinthe is 97% lore, 3% actual effects. I've been to a couple of classes in making it, both distilled (recommended) and cold mixed (don't bother). For all the bother and expense, I'm sticking to Pernod.
