John Dehlin heard the Maxwell Institute was preparing to publish a lengthy negative critique of his Mormon Stories podcast and movement, and immediately sent messages to his friends among the GAs to ask for their pull in stopping it as well as to DCP to let him know what John had done. DCP went ballistic at John's attempts to "censor" him. John made the exchange public on his Facebook profile, and DCP responded in kind. John's GA friends were able to prevent the publication of the piece, but DCP all but said that the piece would be published through FAIR if it couldn't be published through the Maxwell Institute. I'm not saying that John didn't make mistakes (he went to his GA friends operating on rumor before going to DCP, for instance), but the entire thing backfired horribly for DCP and the Maxwell Institute.

Oh, and then DCP published a short piece in the Mormon Times section of the Deseret News about modern-day "Korihors" and "Nehors" who are eloquent anti-Christs against the truth and how we all know who these people are in the modern-day Church (conveniently not mentioning any of them by name) and how we must be prepared against their lies and half-truths.

Bottom line is DCP stepped on his crank by aligning with the likes of William Schryver.

He threw the ball away when he saw that his lineman could not prevent him from being sacked.

In other words he chickened out.

So what authenticates the OP other than you think it sounds like Bradford?

The fact that if it was fake, apologists would be all over it?

And thanks for highlighting the "mainstream" quote again.

Yes, not a single post about any of this on yonder board.

The sound of the crickets from there is almost deafening.

I think Dan need to practise some basic information control routines in his emails.
If he really is interested in finding out whom the informer(s) is/are it would just take a few minutes with a high probability of narrowing it down.

Send 18 slightly alternated versions of the same email with fake recipeint list, to each of the recievers.
Then check and see what version is online in a few hours..
About Joseph Smith.. How do you think his persona was influenced by being the storyteller since childhood? Mastering the art of going pale, changing his voice, and mesmerizing his audience.. How do you think he was influenced by keeping secrets and lying for his wife and the church members for decades?

John did contact DCP, but it was while DCP was more concerned with the death of his brother and his response was curt. When John tried again to make contact with Dan he didn't respond. So he then made contact with his GA friends.

I would appreciate any ideas you have along these lines that I might include in this announcement. Please be assured that, while brief, it will be positive and will highlights the important things that the Review has achieved under your helm during the past two decades plus. It will also indicate that the recently christened Mormon Studies Review is going to chart a new course, with a new editorial team, one that will bring it explicitly in-line with the scholarly agenda of the Institute, that will ensure that it clearly complements the Journal and Studies, and that will further enable it to make solid, scholarly contributions to Mormon studies. Please let me hear from you in the next week or so. I’ll make the announcement sometime around the first of the month."

I hate this kind of delay thing. If you're going to do something, don't delay the doing... just do it.
