Kishkumen wrote:Yes, it appears that there is a core of "culture warriors" who believe that their particular ideologically tinged interpretation of Mormonism is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and they are willing to call those who disagree with them, and do things they do not like, "apostates." I am surprised they don't go the full Schryver and call them "Apostate Evangelists."

These "cultural warriors" are leading many to the front-lines of a war against their own. The fact that Scott Lloyd is a Church employee is even more concerning. This reminds me of the many factions existing within Church membership/leadership/etc. from the 1830's to the early 1900's. Unfortunately, this time around, the "wolves in sheep's clothing," as Will Shyrver touts, are those supposedly defending the faith. At this point, it is rather safe to say the Ousted Maxwell Institute Danites (OMID) are more than willing to eat their own.

Guess DCP didn't get the video . . . er the memo or whatever

Exactly. You never criticize your church leaders. What DCP needs to understand is that Bradford prayed about this decision. This is the Lord's will. He is fighting against God.

Mr. William Schryver has now chimed into the conversation within the thread I linked in my OP. Apparently, he is charging Church leadership as being "wolves in sheep's clothing." Just as I predicted.

William Schryver states:

This is something that should rise to the level of their consideration. In fact, I feel confident that this issue is being discussed in this morning's weekly meeting, and I hope to hear, sooner or later, that this horrendous decision has been reversed, and that those who are attempting to silence LDS apologetics will be thwarted in their undertaking, and finally recognized for who and what they really are.

What this guy doesn't understand, I'd wager, is that there is no concerted effort to silence apologetics. There may be an effort to move the Maxwell Institute's Review in another direction. I know I would be happy to see them cease attacking members of the LDS Church. But the kind of grand conspiracy that Will fantasizes simply does not exist. Rather, this is probably about a few people that got sick of dealing with their crap--meaning, all of the fabricated drama has become an irksome distraction from the more useful work to be done and the director wants to focus on that useful work. Big surprise.

Yeah that was fun.

And, as Kish, noted it had the extra dollop of being the première introduction à la mélodie classique Belmontian: "would LDS apologetics exist if critical material didn't exist?"/"In other words, if you don't want to be ganged up on, don't attack my faith." Ah the variations played upon that string...

Wow. Talk about an interesting marital arrangement. Inter-faith, bi-sexual... dizzying. But no, I don't think so. Thanks.

Jack is a lovely lady, but I am not interested in her husband.

My wife would have something to say about it. Her statement would probably begin with my belongings in a dumpster.

I've never met her but she's got a kick ass avatar.

I don't know about this new acronym, lostindc.

I think Wombats of Mass Distraction (WMDs) is a much apter and more succinct way of putting it.

Dang, let's remember this is the first time we heard the acronym OMID.

But there would be no shame if you were. I think most of the women and at least half of the guys at the last Sunstone that we attended were checking him out, including Chris Smith, Don Bradley, Loyd Ericson and John Dehlin.
