The presence of clothing like this on an apparition is one of the things that flashes warning lights spelling out 'someone is imagining this on the basis of the local religious stereotypes of their culture, including the fashions they saw in religious illustrations'.
Notice the lack of wings in the description.
Yep. That clearly proves that Joseph Smith was reporting an actual thing he saw, and not borrowing someone else's ideas.
JSH 1:32 Not only was his robe exceedingly white, but his whole person was glorious beyond description, and his countenance truly like lightning.
How could Joseph Smith have known?????
Matthew 28
2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow
I think what BC is trying to say is that angels don't have wings.
What a sad, sad thought. This is the most depressing of all Mormon doctrine.

Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)
I was always taught that all living matter had a spirit and would be resurrected. The Celestial Kingdom will be coated in trillions of ants and mosquitoes who have lived over the last 6000 years. What about living bacteria like pus or yeast infections? Aren't sperm cells living matter? What about the copious amounts of semen spilled by masturbators? Outer darkness is beginning to look more sanitary...

Oh boy. You are gonna be a fun addition to the crew. *rubs hands together*

OMG.
:)
That is really funny.

I suppose I should ask: Would you expect Moroni to show up nude?
How about sheer?

+1000 can't wait to see flesh eating bacteria in it's perfected celestial form....plus I once had a case of crabs (Tijuana...don't ask) I hope seeing them will be more enjoyable and less itchy.
Honestly, the idea of resurrected beings with clothing doesn't bother me too much. With a physical body, they could pick up an outfit somewhere. But certainly Smith's visitors (Moroni, Peter, etc.) should have appeared wearing actual temple robes, hats and aprons. Either that or Mr. Mac suits, white shirts and red power ties.
What really confuses me is when spirits/ghosts seem to always be clothed when they are reportedly seen by humans. What are they made of? Where do they come from? Why are they needed?
(I noticed that in the critically acclaimed Left Behind movie, the raptured people all leave their clothes behind, in a heap. They are all beamed up to meet Jesus in their naked glory.)

Think about getting back all the hair you've cut off, and the skin cells that have been shed.
Surely all those Utah County breast augmentations will be reversed, and men who were hacked as babies will have their foreskins restored. But will Telestial and Terrestrial men care, since they won't ever be using that particular vestigial organ?
