Thanks for all of your responses. It sounds like it could be quite a mountain to climb in my case.

My belief would be considered backwards by most people. I have a belief in the institutional church more than I have a belief in some of its traditional doctrines. My belief wouldn't go much beyond the Articles of Faith.

And do you believe that the institution of the Church supports the teachings contained within the Articles of Faith such as "We believe in being honest..."?

Hello boilermaker,

I don't want to be one of the vipers but you do know that there are several branches of Mormonism out there besides the LDS church whose claim to fame appears to rest on some of the people at a meeting claiming that Brigham Young looked like Joseph Smith.
May all your naps be joyous occasions.

I think it would be harder to rejoin as a former member than to join initially, assuming you aren't fully onboard with all of the teachings. You'll be grilled and forced to either equivocate or to face the urge to "get a testimony." There will be people suspicious of your motives, both inside and outside of the church.

Whatever you do, good luck.
Hey listen don't you let 'em get your mind...

Boilermaker, what's the backstory of your registration pseudonym?

I understand 'boilermaker' to be a term of chasing a shot of liquor with a beer, or even dropping a shot into a beer and then drinking it. Could it be that a return to Mormonism could be, for you, like a beer chaser to your shot of liquor being the period of your resignation?

Tithing is a great principle zeezrom. Everyone should give at least 10% of their increase each year to the poor and needy. Now, I don't agree that he necessarily needs to give it to the Church. But, that is between him and God.
