The five to four decision today upholding Obamacare, and its ultimate long term goal, the expropriation of the means of production of the healthcare industry, in all its facets, may well be what the Left has been seeking for generations - the end of America as a republic grounded in self government and unalienable individual rights.

Socialized medicine is the all-in-one black cauldron from which the Nazis, communists, socialists, "democratic socialists," and other assorted collectivists all have, across generations and sundry variations on the same collectivist, statist theme, laid the chains of serfdom and dependency across their fellow human beings and locked them in place.

The very idea of politicians and bureaucrats being in control of one's health care, and especially over life and death decisions, should make the blood run cold in the veins on any freeborn American citizen who has the slightest conception of the consequences of this kind of system in other lands (especially Britain and Canada) and who values his own liberty and respects that of his fellow human beings.

The purpose of Obamacare has nothing whatsoever to do with healthcare. The purpose of Obamacare is control; its purpose is to ensure the utter dependency of the entire citizenry on government for medical care, the votes this will buy for those who receive it "free," and the ability to restrict and ration it to those deemed enemies of the people (which the laws and principles of economics dictate must occur in such a collectivized, non-market system anyway).

And now, the United States moves one lurching step closer to the effete, decadent, exhausted civilizations of Western Europe, and to its own dissolution as either a civil, prosperous, and free society.

As the 5 men in black robes, the American Left, and all those espousing the doctrines and pattern of Korihor here in this forum, dance on the grave of the Constitution, Declaration, individual liberty, the rule of law, and the right of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness while selling themselves, their fellow citizens, and all our children and grandchildren into smiley faced slavery, the chickens are even now approaching the roost.

All I can say is, come out, come ye out from Babylon and be ye separate. Partake not of its unclean things. When Babylon finally falls, the scriptures tell us that "great shall be the fall of it." When the Titanic takes its final plunge, one must be well away from the great ship as it pulls vast quantities of water after it on its way to the distant bottom. The suction immediately around the ship is as deadly as being trapped on the ship itself as its plunges downward.

One must be off the doomed ship, but also well away from its massive bulk. There must be sufficient distance to be truly safe and secure. The time is rapidly approaching when the Saints, and all good, noble, just, and righteous people who will associate with them, and do not want to "go down with the ship," will have to "flee to Zion." Only there will there be safety and peace. Only there will one not have to sleep on his sword. Only there will there still be personal, economic, and religious freedom. Only there will our children and children's children have a chance, not only to be free, independent men and woman, but moral, ethical, and yes, righteous individuals with more upon their minds than their bellies, organs of generation, and punishing ideological enemies through the politicians they hire to make everything "fair."

As a conservative, I really, really feel odd in saying this, but the time for revolution has come. I'm not talking about revolution in the streets. That will come as well, if the Left and the Gadianton's are not stopped before the sun goes down. They're already within the city walls, and now, as the Book of Mormon warns, the problems are much more difficult to solve. The spiritual, moral, and intellectual fighting is now house to house, street to street, and hand to hand.

The revolution I'm talking about is a political, social, and cultural one. It is high time that conservatives, Republicans, and the mealy, self absorbed Republican party learn the art of political and cultural war and take to the field of battle with only one objective - victory.

We are living in wartime. I'm not even talking about Muslim extremism here. The fifth columns within our own country, and the remainder of the West, are of far more urgent concern. The time for appeasement with the Left is passed. The time for "bipartisanship" is past. The time for "working with the Democrats to "get things done" is long past and meaningless. The time for "reaching across the aisle" is past. The time for "dialogue and discussion" with the Left has passed.

The Left, and the Democratic party that is its institutional face, must be exposed for what they are, denounced as the enemies of humanity, civilization, liberty, human potential, and human flourishing they represent, and defeated, not just in the arena of ideas, but politically; they must be removed from power, influence, and control of the laws and institutions of society as much as possible, and if the Republican party is not capable of leading and maintaining such a political, ideological, and civilization conflict for the heart, soul, and fundamental integrity of the American experiment, then an alternative must be created, and the Republican dingy can follow the leftist Titanic into the deeps.

This is a crisis point, a "tipping point' for limited self government, individual liberty, property rights, and economic freedom (the social/cultural core of all the others). The Constitution is, for all intents, ended. It is now not only a "living document" but a dead letter. The Constitution is now what one unaccountable judge in a 5/4 decision says it is. The rule of law is passed. We are now living in an age of the rule of men; the rule of lawmakers and of those who rule - rulers.

It is pointless debating, attempting reasoned discourse, or seeking common ground with the Left in any form, for none exists. Their vision is, and always has been, the utter destruction of the American liberal order, and most especially, its Judeo-Christian foundations. For the Left this is war, and it is total, without mercy, and without concern for its consequences so long as "the revolution" and the "better world" are achieved and so long as the Left is in control of the power wielded in that "better world." Conservatives/libertarians have won all the intellectual and moral battles, and done so for generations, but somehow, they have lost the culture and the country. We have lost the war.

And yet, the battle has not yet really been joined...

A single-payer insurance system would not expropriate the "means of production of the healthcare industry." It would obviously the need for a healthcare insurance industry, but then that industry doesn't actually produce anything. There are lots of things that government does that we don't expect the private sector to do, such as the military, regulation of safe foods, and ensuring that child labor isn't used. There are other things that private industry could and does do but that the government maintains to ensure access for everyone, such as education.

Are public schools an encroachment of freedom? Should they be outlawed?

Are local municipal utility companies, such as Provo's city-owned power company, one step towards decadent socialism?

Would you prefer that the private sector enforce its own child labor laws?

Do you think the government should eliminate food-safety standards and leave the inspection and standards to private industry?

I don't favor a single-payer system, but this kind of end-of-the-world thinking is overblown, which means that it fits in with everything you write.

The majority said that the individual mandate was not valid under the Commerce Clause or the Necessary and Proper Clause. But you would have to have read the opinion (and understood it) to know that.

Boy Scouts of America v. Dale was also a 5-4 decision. So I am sure that Droopy will agree that that case is an example of the rule of men rather than the rule of law.
