It did seem to me a tactical error on Welch's part when she likened the "Mormon Stories" scripts to those in sacrament meeting.

Apologists sometimes operate on the mistaken assumption that if you poured authenticity on them, that apologists would melt.

Yes, she made a number of tactical errors, none of them very flattering of her, but all of them revealing of her attitudes.

Though a tactical error, this one observation in her article at least had the unique advantage of being honest.

Oh, I bet her implicit critique of gay-straight alliance groups as trivial and morally insipid was also honest, albeit repugnant.

Rosalynde Welch wrote:Mormon Stories seems like a textbook liberal mini-institution, a lot like a high school gay-straight alliance and about as important.

That Welch actually composed and published this sentence indicates a bizarre lack of understanding, empathy, and maturity.

Agreed.

Rosalynde jumped the shark with that one.

It almost sounded . . . .Petersonesque.

Almost?

I thought it was classic Peterson.

At least it wasn't classic Droopy.

Ha! Classic Droopy wouldn't have a place on Patheos. Ms. Welch may have offered a poor argument like Droopy's usual fare, but she didn't use nearly enough adjectives.
