Which fully qualifies you to note:

Equality wrote:I was saying that your characterization of these whackjobs as being representative of normal Mormons is more of an insult to normal Mormons than is our (meaning "critics and apostates," if you will) mockery of said whackjobs. I have a much higher regard for "normal" Mormons than you. I think many normal Mormons would be embarrassed by these guys, the same way they are embarrassed by a lot that goes on in Mormon (and specifically, Utah Mormon) culture.

Do you believe that "normal Mormons" should be embarrassed by Mormon doctrine?

Whether they should or not is really irrelevant to this thread, which is about these zealots who are stalking Tommy Monson. I think many normal Mormons would find their behavior creepy and weird and not at all representative of Mormons generally. Put it this way: I doubt the church's PR folks will be featuring these dudes on their "I'm a Mormon" ad campaign.

As for whether I'm qualified to comment on what normal Mormons might think or how they might react to these knuckleheads, I am not sure what your point is. That ex-Mormons have no idea what normal Mormons are like? I was a fully active member of the church until my 40th year of life. I think that qualifies me to comment on what Mormons are like, what they teach and believe, how they act, etc. My wife was born and raised in a Mormon family of 10. My kids are all still on the rolls of the church. My ex-wife was born and raised in the church and her family goes back to pioneer stock. I am well-versed in Mormon history, doctrine, and culture. Are you seriously arguing that ex-members of the church are unqualified to opine on how members of the church might react to something like this creepy "follow the prophet" web site?

Ray/Kish:

Yo, can you guys please take this personal spat offline? I just started reading this board a few weeks ago and I've already seen numerous threads get derailed by this.

I'm a newbie here so I don't know the backstory. I don't know or really care if Kish is Scratch or Trevor or whomever or why RayA became Ray Agostini and changed from reasonable apostate to Schryver attack dog. I am sure there is an interesting story or two in there somewhere but without knowing the details it just looks like a public food fight.

You guys obviously know each other in real life so can you please deal with your issues off board?

When a person leaves, it wouldn't matter if they were related to Joseph Smith.

If you understood the mind of Mormons, as you claim, because you were once a Mormon, then you don't now.

From that page:
A family had the chance to go to the airport on Saturday to see President Monson’s jet fly in to Arizona. While they were there they had the chance to chat with him and the other General Authorities with him. One of them writes:
At the airport, we were told by the bodyguards (there were about 10 of them) that we were allowed to take pictures, but that we couldn’t yell or make a huge fuss.

I would find it troubling if every Mormon behaved that way. The Church should bring out the best in us and not reduce us to mindless fan boys.

When will the Prophetic 'headcam' be up and running with live feeds?

I'm not sure that these well intentioned lads have properly thought this through.

1. There are inadvertently telling President Newsroom, the Ensign editor, LDS.org editor and the staff of Deseret News, that they aren't doing a good enough job.

2. What will be the consequences for them of publishing something that the Church doesn't want published?

3. What great timing, the Prophet starts spontaneously yelling out swear words and groping female passers by and they want the Prophet to receive more public scrutiny.

I'm thinking the SCMC are going to be knocking at their doors in the early hours of the morning to 'explain' why they should reconsider.

Needling requires wit and intelligence, something your posts do not demonstrate. Harassment? Maybe, but you suck at dealing with "anti-Mormons."

Is it doctrine that people should follow the prophet around like groupies on the Glee tour? I don't remember that in "Preach My Gospel."
