There is some truth to that as the properties ascribed to the LDS Church by most anti Mormons often don't reflect the LDS Church at all. Most of you have hidden your talent in the ground because you were afraid and now it's been taken away. Matthew 25:29

Before, during, and after my mission (during my believing days), I would keep notes on all the random spiritual thoughts that came to me, often expanding on them at greater length later on. I had like 3-4 notebooks full when all was said and done. I considered them personal inspiration/revelation. Now if I look back at them, I just chuckle, seeing how flawed my reasoning was in many, many respects. I also see how much (perhaps all) of my "inspiration" requires one to presume the truthfulness of the church.

Thing is, after I apostatized, I didn't stop having inspiration. I just started having it about different things. Epiphanies regarding the errors of Mormonism, psychology, philosophy, general life principles, etc.

Conclusion: people have flashes of insight regarding the topics that are on their minds the most. Think about something enough, and your understanding of it will deepen, develop, and evolve. No holy ghost is necessary.

This has become my station in life right now. I am having the exact same situation occur. It is terribly fascinating and terribly frustrating because no one understands me. Mostly what I hear is, now now... you just get the spirit of the Lord and go to church and things will be O.K. The Lord will guide you in your heart. I am beginning to read more philosophy this year and it's a huge difference compared to the lesson we are given in Sunday School. No wonder very few like the philosophers, they actually do use their brains to figure things out. There is no talk of follow and be guided by the spirit, but there is a lot of talk about reason, thinking, question. The church has become paranoid of anyone who is smart, unless first they can brainwash them real good to be a subserviant, obedient little soldier for God. Then they can use him/her to their own ends.

Whereas you, with your crazy-ass theories of pre-Eden evolution and the marriage of right-wing politics to Mormonism, reflect the LDS church's position exactly.

As your talent is tortured parsing to support absurd conclusions, please do your best to boldly and publicly grow your talent as far as possible. Your candle should not be hidden under a bushel.

Then how do you explain bcspace? He's still Mormon.
