Political posts from ''How did it go so horribly wrong?''

According to your accurate description of things Mormon, the answer as to how the Church went so horribly wrong is that it started out that way.

The reason the Church seems to a lot of us to have gone off the rails in our lifetimes is that it was effectively able to cover up the truth for much of our lives.

With the combination of the internet as a means, and the Romney campaign as the motivation, folks are finding out about the real LDS Church - and they are generally not liking what they see.

IMHO, the Romney campaign could well turn out to be the worst (or best, depending on your point of view) thing that has happened to Mormonism (and the Republican Party) in the last century.

It looks like Romney will lose the election by a landslide (more 70 electoral votes). To a large extent this will be a referendum on the attitudes and worldview engendered by Mormonism, and to some lesser extent on fundamentalist religion in America.

I can hardly wait.

My guess is Obama loses Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa and maybe Michigan, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania. Not much of a landslide for him there.

Yeah, I'm kind of worried about it too. It will be very difficult for Obama to get re-elected in this economic environment. And it will be a disaster if Romney is elected. He'll immediately have a vote to repeal the health care laws and cut taxes on the rich.

Agreed. I live in NC, and I can tell you right now that there is no way in hell that Obama is going to win here. There are too many people out of work.

Well, duh! You think he won't protect his own?

Yes, but Republicans are somewhat clever about this. They say, we'll cut taxes for everyone and everything will spontaneously boom (and borrow the money to run the government from China). But, what they are really doing is massively cutting taxes for the rich and passing a huge bill on to the next generation. And the rich don't care either. They aren't stuck in this country. If everything goes to pot as a result of this fiscal mismanagement of the country, they can move to Switzerland.

That's like saying there are no rich Democrats. And if anyone ever cared about passing massive debt to the next generation, they haven't been alive in my lifetime (that would be 60 years).

This government by committee, nothing more.

Oh, I don't disagree. It is two sides of the same coin. Republicans cut everyone's taxes (especially the rich) and borrow from China. Democrats spend a lot on wasteful "investments" (government is terrible at picking winners in a capitalist society) and programs with questionable merit and borrow from China. I just believe in the Democrats more because they aren't likely to throw my grandmother under a bus in the process. We might all end up under that bus as a result of their policies (like Europe), but we'll end up there together with the Democrats.

I can't wait for the election and to see how FLAWED you liberals and anti-mormon judgment skills are, in relation to your thinking Romney will lose the election.

Unless something happens, Romney will win, especially if he picks a good running mate like Allen West who would be best for the job, and best to be the next President.

Of course, anything is possible, Romney might loose, but he certainly has a much better chance of winning than McCain, and Obama barely pulled that one out. So, I'm 99% certain Romney will win. You liberals being certain Romney will loose are simply in fantasy land and not reality. More proof that you are brainwashed sheep rather than think for yourselves. The last election I knew McCain was likely going to loose. I'm not like you being beholden to ideology and MSNBC or CNN. I seek only reality and the full truth from all sources, so I can actually determine truth and reality.....
