I am sure that there are other measures that can be taken to protect him from the consequences of his actions.

Ahh, Shades is just showing his bias to the critics. Was it not stem that was recently pleading for some relief from his mistake of revealing his in real life. His treatment here was brutal to say the least.

How about it Shades, If stem asks you to move any/all threads that he mistakenly revealed his in real life and hence everywhere others brutally copied/referred to it, are you willing to do that? My guess is that stem would so appreciate it that he would not violate the good deed by repeating his mistake.

I assume stem feels threatened at this point and would much appreciate this.

Statistically speaking, anti-Mormons have more to fear from Mormons than the converse. I suspect that it might have something to do with the denied doctrine of blood atonement. And Mormonism is definitely a strange attracter and accelerator.

Shulem wrote:At present I disagree with Shades for moving the thread into protective custody without a valid explanation. It's not as though only Nort's stuff was moved but everyone's posts were taken away. Hey, people took the time to write their thoughts down -- taking time out of our busy schedules only to be carted off without apology or explanation. That stinks.

We deserve a valid explanation to the intent to satisfy all parties who commented.

I feel Nort made his bed. Let him lie in it. Jesus.

Accuracy, Equality and Eric. The thread was moved at the request of the thread starter, as Liz said. It still exists, in the place the thread starter requested. To say it was deleted is as inaccurate as saying Dan was fired.

Accuracy, harmony. I didn't say it was deleted. I said that moving it had the same effect as if it had been deleted. Which it clearly did (i.e., no one but the moderators can see the thread, so it might as well have been deleted). And, Dan WAS fired (from his position as editor of the Mormon Studies Review).

Just saying, seems precedence has been set here, and Shades has been quick to show his bias. If I were stem, I would fear for repercussions to my work, my family etc. Heck don’t most of us (i.e. and hence we stay anonymous).

There are lots of wackos out there, regardless of stereotype/title, maybe more so with
lurkers than actual active posters.

How about it Shades, you willing to cleanup stems mistake? You would make a real friend here, that would appreciate this new precedence. Or is this only a priveledge extended to critics of your choice?

Accuracy, Equality. Moving it is not the same deleting it. It can be moved back after it's been moved; it can't be resurrected after it's been deleted.

And, Dan WAS fired (from his position as editor of the Mormon Studies Review).

No, he wasn't. He resigned.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

No, he resigned as Director of Advancement. He was fired as editor of the Review.

Here's what MI said:
But what we need to do to properly affect this change in the Review is to ask someone else, someone working in the mainstream of Mormon studies, who has a comparable vision to my own for what it can accomplish, to edit the publication and devote whatever time it takes to make this happen. I plan to begin the process of finding a new editor right away. At the same time, I would welcome your continued involvement as a member of its soon-to-be-formed editorial advisory board.

I took this to mean Dan was reassigned, not fired. "At the same time" and "continued involvement" presumes reassigned, does it not?

but you're right... it was the Advancement Director that he resigned from. My bad.

Lol...you guys crack me up.

In THIS thread I have made vague references to a "project" I've been working on.

In the thread that was moved/deleted/whatever word you wish to use, my references were, shall we say, much more direct. People started to post links to it on Facebook and it spread like crazy.

Is that the reason it was taken down? Well, if I gave a damn what some of the nay sayers here think/say I might answer that question.

But, as it is, now I'm just laughing at the circles you guys are running around in. Maybe the whole thing was just a big bluff and I was just talking out my ass. Yes. Let's go with that.

If any of you would like to place a wager on certain issues, please contact me privately and we can work out the arrangements for payment at the end of September.

What was the exact date again? I forgot cuz I just pulled that outta my ass and now the whole thread is gone.

Well, jackass, luckily google cache remembers everything. I posted your original post here to refresh your memory:

viewtopic.php?p=608974#p608974

And you can petition to have that thread removed if you'd like, but I will just keep reposting it, over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
