Only in Utah

Post by _Bob Loblaw »

I stopped to have lunch today with a friend in a downtown Salt Lake restaurant. The next table over there were four women talking about church stuff, their ward, their callings, their kids, yada yada. Pretty typical Utah stuff. Suddenly one of them yelled (yes yelled) out "SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!!!" We couldn't help laughing and they suddenly got very quiet.

I love this state.

Eh, Vegas has much better restaurants. I visit Utah every few years and always seem to regret going there for some reason.

Say what you will about Utah, I've never met an ex-Mormon living outside the state who doesn't have a list of favorite restaurants to visit whenever they find themselves forced to return to the motherland.

It's the strangest thing. Seems like it would be a cultural wasteland, but they got some damn fine eatin'.

Think about it. Eating is the only vice Mormons have!

Sure enough. When I left Provo in 1983, I hankered for the Mexican food at Su Casa on North State Street in Orem. But, when last I tried to go there on a visit to Utah in the 1990s, it had closed.

I wonder how many ex-Utahans hanker for the 3.2 beer.

And taking anti depressants is an additional vice of the non Mormons there seeing as how the rate of usage goes up the more of a percentage they are in the state.

Perhaps Utah also regrets your coming here for some reason.

Mormons can't handle being around normal people. Hence, as more non-Mormons move here, more Mormons are getting depressed.

Perhaps Mormon's cannot understand why Christians do not want to become legalistic?
