I agree, but think it would be more accurate if you moved the word "current" so that the sentence read:

The definition of Mormon Doctrine is what the majority of current members practice and believe to be true.

They are doing something right in Brazil.

Although raised atheist, a powerful conversion experience while living in Brazil has led Rostya to a lifetime of dedicated service to the church abroad, culminating now in her position as Director of National Director for Public Affairs for Czech Republic.

Actually she is ... Director of National Director for Public Affairs

So...if the public in Brazil want to have affairs they go see the guy she directs.

Tobin wrote:I don't find this surprising at all. I've seriously disliked how the LDS Church goes about converting people and reporting about who is a member for a long time. Membership should be a privilege and if they haven't seen you in the past 3 months, they should kick you out (with understandable exceptions of course).

And the whole 19 year old missionary thing should also be given the boot. Have them get an education first, then if they wish to serve their communities in actual service and feel called upon by God to do such a thing - then the Church should support them in that.

The Church should also use its vast wealth in community causes like opening hospitals, food banks, and other worthwhile programs. That would do far more to promote the gospel than anything they do now.

Tobin,

Do you ever wonder WHY they send out the missionaries so young, before they get an education? In my experience, it has something to do with the fact that, the more education people get, the less they tend to believe in religion.

If they started trying to send out missionaries after they'd gotten advanced or professional degrees, I think the number of missionaries in the world would drop precipitously. Even if the people were still members of the church, they would have likely moved on with their lives and careers and would feel much less obligation to go do two years of volunteer work -- with their families footing the bill -- for a multi-billion dollar corporation.
