1. troll

One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=trolling

1. trolling

Being a prick on the internet because you can. Typically unleashing one or more cynical or sarcastic remarks on an innocent by-stander, because it's the internet and, hey, you can.
Guy: "I just found the coolest ninja pencil in existence."
Other Guy: "I just found the most retarded thread in existence."

Trolling is trying to get a rise out of someone. Forcing them to respond to you, either through wise-crackery, posting incorrect information, asking blatantly stupid questions, or other foolishness. However, trolling statements are never true or are ever meant to be construed as such. Nearly all trolled statements are meant to be funny to some people, so it does have some social/entertainment value.

"Trolling" isn't simply "harmful statements". Intentionally insulting/libelous statements are "flaming".

Just as bad as trolling is "Feeding the Trolls". This is when people say stuff that they know will prompt someone to respond with a trolled reply and/or replying to comments that are blatantly from a troll. This is especially true when a troll first makes his comment/reply, and (usually many) people respond, either trying to correct the troll, or express anger at the statement. At that point, the trolling was successful and has been fed. When encouraged by success and feeding, trolls often return.

I agree. I haven't heard a good argument yet from Mittens. It is mostly just warmed over garbage that Mormons have heard many times before.

Mittens: Do you have a point to any of the scriptures you're quoting? Or, put a different way, what is it you're trying to teach us through your opening post?

Name and legal entities

The church teaches that it is a continuation of the Church of Christ established in 1830 by Joseph Smith, Jr. This original church underwent several name changes during the 1830s, being called the Church of Jesus Christ, the Church of God,[87] and then in 1834, the name was officially changed to the Church of the Latter Day Saints.[88] In April 1838, the name was officially changed to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.[89] After Smith died, Brigham Young and the largest body of Smith's followers incorporated the LDS Church in 1851 by legislation of the State of Deseret[90] under the name The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which included a hyphenated "Latter-day" and a lower-case "d".[91]
In 1887, the LDS Church was legally dissolved in the United States by the Edmunds–Tucker Act because of the church's practice (now abandoned) of polygamy. The Edmunds-Tucker Act was repealed in 1978. The church has continued to operate under what remains its formal name, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Accepted informal names include the LDS Church, the Latter-day Saints, and the Mormons. The term Mormon Church is in common use,[92] but the church began discouraging its use in the late 20th century, though takes no issue with the term Mormon itself. The church requests that the official name be used when possible or, if necessary, shortened to "the Church" or "the Church of Jesus Christ".[93]
The church has organized several tax-exempt corporations to assist with the transfer of money and capital. These include the Corporation of the Presiding Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, organized in 1916 under the laws of the state of Utah to acquire, hold, and dispose of real property. In 1923, the church incorporated the Corporation of the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Utah to receive and manage money and church donations. In 1997, the church incorporated Intellectual Reserve, Inc. to hold all the church's copyrights, trademarks, and other intellectual property. The church also holds several non-tax-exempt corporations, such as Bonneville International and the Deseret News.

Sort of off topic but this got me to thinking about the significance of a LIVING God. God is living and breathing right now. Do we realize what this means? It means there is drama in heaven! Let us finally get to the story telling of God's living drama. What is going on with him right now? Forget about the second coming. That is like a thief in the night. No. We don't want to learn more about the acts of thiefs. We want to know about God's passions in the sky. Tell us how it goes down, ye prophets! Who is God secretly wooing? What secret plot is he engineering? What is the status of Heavenly Mother's Coup d'état?

Zeezrom,

It would be best if you go directly to the source; i.e., by personally praying to God. Otherwise, you will be dealing with the opinions of man which will muddy the waters and inhibit your ability to hear Him speak to you. Use the Bible and/or the Book of Mormon as the basis of the questions you are seeking answers to in your prayers.

Blessings,

jo
