I am actually excited about this opportunity, because I have been meaning for some years to do a more thorough exegesis on Alma's remarks to Corianton in Alma 39-42 but have never gotten around to it.

There are several issues Corianton has and although we get Alma's response to the issues, we do not get precisely what causes the issues themselves.

My goal is to reconstruct from Alma's comments what it is that Corianton believed that Alma thought incorrect.

It is sort of like the textual analysis done on Paul's occasional letters (such as 1 Corinthians) in an effort to find out what it was the Corinthians were doing that elicited Paul's correction.

I have been over the text several times since yesterday and am making some serious headway, I think. The text seems to abound with clues as to what it was Corianton believed, though it is never fully set forth.

Just make sure that everything you teach is not what the Church teaches those verses mean and is not apropos to the plain meaning of the text itself.

Teach your own contemporary, liberal, politically correct exegesis of the Book of Mormon, and be careful not to stray anywhere near official, established gospel doctrine.

I'm sure you'll do just fine.
