It's the same as the other Christian tradition.

Wow! Thanks for posting this quote Equality....I hadn't read that before.

Reminds me of Hinckley's comments in his interview with King.

Compare what Romeny said above to what is posted right on the church website:

Adam-ondi-Ahman is the site of a future grand council where Jesus Christ will meet with His stewards of all dispensations and receive back the keys of the kingdom in preparation for His Second Coming. Only those called to the meeting will know of its occurrence.

Does Romney not even know his own church's doctrine on the 2nd coming? Or is he not being honest here? (I guess it does state that this meeting is only in "preparation for His Second Coming".)

One has to wonder....

You do realize what Romney said doesn't preclude the other. Both will happen.

The site with the temples listed isn't a church website? Wow...didn't realize that. Sorry!

Who owns the website?

(Ok, edited to add: I now see this posted on the site...."Not an official website of the church")

So....do you think most members don't even know about this future temple site?

How many members do you think even know about the "future grand council where Jesus Christ will meet with His stewards of all dispensations and receive back the keys of the kingdom in preparation for His Second Coming"? Is this still discussed at all?

I almost find it odd that the church still has this information on their temple website.

My guess is that the Brighamites pretty much abandoned the original cause and reason for
the Adam-ondi-Ahman Temple, the Far West Temple and the Jackson County Temple, when
the relocated to Utah.

Over the years the LDS concept of "the literal gathering of Israel" has deteriorated greatly
from what it was in 1830-1839. No longer do the Mormons think in terms of having all the
Tribes of Israel gather around two great temples, one in Jerusalem and one in "Zion."

For the Mormons, "Zion" is no longer Jackson County -- and Daviess County and Caldwell
County are no longer the skirts of the tent of Zion.

Ask an uneducated Mormon today, where "Zion" is, and he will most likely say "Utah."

Oh, Zion, dear Zion,
Home of the free,
Soon thy towers will shine
With a splendor divine,
And eternal thy glories shall be

Oh well...

Uh, Tob.... These are the "Latter Days" right? Shouldn't we be getting pretty close down to the wire by now? It's been the Latter Days for quite some time now, shouldn't we be getting ready? ~_-

If Elder W. M. Romney is indeed the "One Mighty and Strong" then we are living in
the LAST DAYS, and a war that begins in South Carolina will soon spread to the
Valley of Megiddo, and the Jerusalem Temple will be re-built.

I presume that President Romney will attend its dedication and that Halliburton
will get the construction contract.

As for the three un-built LDS temples in Missouri -- perhaps they were merely parts
of Joe Smith's con job that have long since been abandoned and forgotten.

It's been the latter-days for over 2,000 years. The saints during Christ's era thought the millenium was right around the corner too.
